I've been washing my face for the past 5 days with the Neutrogena acne wash (the orange one). I've been loving the way it makes my skin feel, until last night. After washing my face, I started to feel my skin feel itchy. I looked in the mirror and there were all these red patches. I touched then and it felt rough and had little tiny tiny bumps. It calmed down a lil but I can still feel the little bumps. The active ingredient is salicylic acid. Should I use it one more time to be sure that's what's causing it? Please recommend to me good face washes please!
For reference: I have very dry skin that's mostly clear. I just picked that acne wash cause I was in a rush and I just want a facial cleanser.
UPDATE: OMYGOD IM FREAKING OUT! I took a shower and didn't wash my face at all and the redness is back and it itches sooooo bad!! Do you think it's still because of the face wash?? Please help me. I'm stressing out. The face wash is the only things that's changed in my daily routine.

Thank you for responding! Idk I might be overreacting but that's because my skin has always been kinda good and this happens. I'm looking at it right now and like panicking. Do you think the water from the shower just irritated it??

The weird thing also is that my skin isn't sensitive. Nothing irritates it at all. So this just surprised me.

I really love the Burt's bees 100% natural cleanser, it's really gentle but works to remove makeup. I love it

I had the same reaction to the crap facial cleanser. not a part of my face wasn't covered in raised itchy bumps. took weeks to recover. never again. I refuse to use cheap products for skincare. it never works out well for me. right now I am using caudalie cleansing milk and I love it...super gentle, smells awesome paraben free and removes all my makeup and best of all, doesn't make me break out. I will be sticking with it.

I use what you use. Just put some bath and body works lotion on after you apply the face wash at night. Don't use the lotion in the morning though.

Thank you ladies so much! Alexis and Jacqlyn, when yall broke out, did you break down your neck too? That's another thing that's freaking me out. It's on my ear and my neck but I only used it on my face.

Also, do you think its the salicylic acid or just a crappy face wash?

It might just be a crappy face wash, because I too have your skin type and salicylic acid is good for dry skin. I agree with everyone else and switch to something more gentle like Cetaphil. Also with a wash it tends to dry out your face more so use a moisturizer and use it least often.

Omg Jazzmyn. I had the same thing happen to me with that same wash. I too have the same skin type as you and I used the wash twice and it kinda like burnt my skin badly. Yours sounds bad too. I didnt touch my face, use makeup or anything. Only water. A pharmacist suggested I use this calming burn rinse which really helped but it took me like a week to get over. Hopefully yours will get better soon!

Btw my face was like tomato red and inflammed. I had those bumps and it was extremely itchy.

The same thing happened to me after like two weeks. I figured my skin got dry and had a reaction with it.
I use the St. Ives apricot face wash and that doesn't happen anymore
