Through my teenage years I had a lot of piercings. By the time I was 20 I had my lobes pierced 4 times, my cartiledge, an industrial, a daith, my nose and both my nipples. I ended up taking them all out except my nose and my 2 lobe piercings on each side and my daith. I was getting married and I didn't think it suited the occasion. I enjoyed them for a short while but I love how they weren't permanent. Sure you can still see the hole a little bit on my ears but it's fine and it heals over time. I still love my nose piercing which is why I kept it. It's a small little stud and isn't really that visible unless it shimmers in the light. I kept my daith because I love the look of it and it was quite painful for me so I wanted to get my worth! haha! My friend had her septum pierced and she loved it because she could hide it by simply flipping it upward into the nose. Good luck! I'd love to hear about a dermal if you are planning to get that done. I think they look super cute!

I have met someone recently that has a dermal piercing and I personally wouldn't get one cause I just would be scared of clothes catching onto it and kids trying ot get at it. It is a unique piercing.

I have a lot of piercings but dermal piercings are something I won't touch. If something ever happened (god forbid) and you need an x-ray or MRI then they won't be able to accommodate you with that in your skin. Which means it would have to be removed (Aka: cut out. Ouch.). They also come with separate issues than conventional piercings. But that's just my reason for staying away from them. Definitely grill an experienced and knowledgeable piercing artist with lots of dermal related questions.
As far as septum goes, I love mine and it was easy and painless (for me anyway). Good luck and have fun!

I'm hoping to get my nose pierced in September on my birthday! I think they look so cute with a really small diamond stud.

I have had about 10 dermal piercing. I had my cheek, 2 on my neck (Vampire bites), and a few on my wrist. PLEASE DO NOT GET DERMALS! After 10 piercings i finally learned my lesson. Most of them snagged and either ripped out or I had to cut them out, literally with a blade (Fun!). The others rejects. They were cute while they lasted, but not worth all the money, pain, and scarring.

I've had a few, and I would def. caution against a dermal... I have certain body piercings, and when those snag, I cry. My friend got her dermal, on the back of her neck and her hair would always get caught on it, and showering was a pain, as was cleaning it. Almost everyone I know w/ a dermal has had it reject, and I've had two piercings reject on me as well... it's not pretty when the only thing holding the piercing in place is a tiny sliver of skin.
If you do, make sure you go to someone WELL-TRAINED. I went to a tattoo/piercing expo to shop out my piercer. If your area has one, def. check it out! It's such a weird mix of people... Lawyers w/ a thing for prison tattoos, Yakuza looking body suits, Goth, Trashy, Hippie, etc... with a mix of families there as well... haha. You get to see them in action when they showcase their skills, and you'll feel more confident handing over a part of your body to someone else to do the deed.

Im down to my nose pierced x2, lobes x4, tragus and tongue.
I have 4 tiny little reminders around my lips from where i had piercings. My most recently removed piercing was my septum. I just got over having to tuck it away every day for work. Became annoying rather then a statement. I've had my industrial pierced but it rejected real bad about 3 months. Bad infection and it wasn't pierced straight so now the top of my left ear is pulled back. The piercing deformed my ear slightly. I have been to trusted & professional clinics to be pierced. It all depends on our bodies and how healthy we are. I plan on getting more ear piercings in the future :D apart from saving for my makeup diploma im also saving up to start my other 'full' sleeve. it will be very exciting :D

I absolutely hate needles! But I mustered up some courage to get a belly button piercing. I think the pain was worth it, I just think it's so cute. I think that might be the last of my piercings that will not be on my ears.

Currently i have my lobes, lip, navel, and tongue pierced. and i love them all. i too have been debating on a dermal anchor piercing but the negatives of the piercing just seem to outweigh the positive. positive, itll look super cute. negative, getting your clothes or etc get caught on it, its basically a permanent piercing until you get your piercer to take it out for you, and of course the high rejection rates. idk. my favorite piercings out of the ones i have would have to be my tongue. i love my tongue piercing sooo i suggest that :] the healing kinda sucks though but its so worth it! good luck!

I wish I was brave enough to get other piercings besides my ear. I think I'd like getting my nose or belly button pierced but later down the line. I still want to get my 3rd hole in my ears and my cartilage....
The septum looks good!

I have had my nose pierced for a year and a half now and I love it! Im also a fan of any ear piercing, esp tragus!! except im not too big in the industrial piercings.
Lately tho, I have been LOVING the monroe piercing!! idk why, but I think it's amazing!!
I also like symmetrical dermal piercings on the collarbone/chest area and inner/upper hip area.
Then there is also the finger piercing which may be hard to not get caught on stuff but looks cute!!

Septum looks great , my fav piercing is my monroe . I have alot of piercings and tattoos and one of my best friends is a piercer, who has done 1000s of dermals and I wouldnt caution against dermals anchors. You really get what you pay for in terms of body mods always do your research and even ask what kind of metal they use for their jewlery and make sure its surgical grade. The placement of the dermal should coinside with the size of the anchor itself,of course a big 14g anchor on the back of your neck is going to get caught on things but a nice small 18g should sit flush against your skin. I do caution to never get a dermal if they want to use a scaple a dermal is a piercing and even though its under the surface of your skin, there shouldnt be any cutting of your skin involved, the piercer should pierce your skin and make a small pocket with the needle and then just slip the anchor into that pocket. Sea salt and warm water is the best solution to use on healing piercing or infected ones as it draws the white blood cells that are forming out of the piercing and lets it heal and is soothing and gentle on your skin, it feels really good too if your piercing hurts, is irrated or itchy, I suggest soaking the piercing for afew mins twice a day or as needed. Also dont pick your piercings either always soak them in salt water to soften any kind of crust it may get and then just clean it off with a cotton swab. I have never had a piercing reject or get infected and I have had some of my facial piercing for over 10 years. I have quite afew friends with facial and chest dermals that have never had any problems with them either. Hopefully this helps for anyone else thinking about dermal anchors

when i was younger i had my earlobes pierced (just like the rest of the world!) but then when i was 4 my left ear got caught on a sweater and i pulled and i slightly ripped the hole, so now if i were to wear earrings one would be lower then the other, unless i got surgery.
on a happier note, i have my nose, tragus, and cartilage pierced :) <3

awee thank you so much ladies. im really happy with my septum. i especially love the fact that i can hide it whenever i want. :)
i use to have a monroe as well and i LOVED my monroe. i had it for about 3 years and this year i decided to take it out completely. i felt like i needed a change since i've had it for so long.
Hailey- my friend is a piercer as well. he's the did most of my piercings and i completely trust him with all of them. i really did think about it and im so glad i chose the septum over the dermal. but thanks for all the tips :)
steph- im so sorry about your lobes. that sounds terrible :( hope its better now

The septum looks cute, glad you went with it!
I love piercings, but I'm a year away from being a teacher, so I'll probably have to take out the few I have. Ever since my eyebrow got infected and rejected, I've been super mindful of cleaning. You probably know all about it, but be diligent about that!
Plus, making sure you get enough iron is always a plus when you get pierced... sounds a bit off-topic, but opening your skin is a good reminder to keep your blood healthy haha :D

I love piercings too! But certain piercings look good on some people while they might look hideous on others. But in general, my personal favorite piercings are lip, septum (only on some people), eyebrow, conch, industrial, and double cartilage piercings. I really want either my eyebrow or septum done next but I can't decide which would suit me better !
