@Antonio, its different for everyone. The belly button was my 1st and only surface piercing,u could say, and from 1-5 it was like a 3.5 on the pain scale. But I'd NEVER get it again because i think it rejected OR it got a bad infection and it can leave a nasty scar if you don't take care of it :X

thanx for the info :X

Antonio- like lizzette said, the pain really just varies on people. i would say i have a pretty high pain tolerance, so most of my piercings didnt hurt me at all. more of like a slight pinch and thats it. i was a tad scared to get my septum, cause everyone said it would hurt. i honestly would say my bottle navel piercing hurt more than the septum. if you really want a piercing, i say you should go for it. its not as bad as what people say, and the pain will last for a few seconds. good luck! :)

yeah thanx, though I am a needle hater, I never liked them, that's why I hate hospitals :p
but thanx that help, got me more courage :)

most places that i've seen septum have been abouty $40 and up. im not sure about your area, it could be different. i actually got mine done for free, cause ive been really good friends with my piercer, and i've brought a lot of clients to him. it was kind of a thank you gift haha.

I love the way dermals look and I wish I could get one. The only problem with dermal is that they have a 50/50 chance of migrating out of your skin or in other words being rejected by your body and gettin pushed out of your skin.

Septal they last forever, and they're super low maintainence! Omg. Dermal piercings are a bitch! They snag, they hurt, and they REJECT. ): but you could try!

I have had my dermal for 8 months and I have had an MRI. So, some of these people don't even know what they are talking about. Yes, a dermal can be ripped out as it is not hooked in like an Anchor! These are 2 very different things and lotsnof people have them confused. I have my dermal on my stomach below my belly button piercing and it is so cute! A dermal is much safer than an anchor and you should research the difference :)

A dermal is NOT permanemt. An ANCHOR is though. These are 2 veryndifferent things! Talk to a piercer and they will tell you.

Megan, I HAVE to say this:
I think the septum piercing looked awesome on you!!
I have been thinking about getting one myself, I think there's something really nice about it.

Also, could you tell me about how it was? On a scale of one to ten, how intense was the pain? And also, how long does it take before it heals, etc?
And can you tuck it away now, or do you have to wait until it heals?

Lip piercing all the way. In the middle tho ( i think thats called labret isnt it?!) :S i have had mine for just over a year and i love it except when i had a 14G in it. I dont recommend that cuz it hurt my lip all the time and my food i was eating would get caught on it etc. I switched to a 16G and it was way better. No more pain after that :)

I don't think I know anyone who has gotten a dermal and didn't regret it. Seems like such a hassle. My advice is to stick with more traditional piercings. I just got my tragus pierced and I love it!! Except the pain was pretty intense. Also, never get a frenulum piercing...ever. Seriously.

I had my lip pierced when I was only 15, with my dad's consent of course. I took it out at 17 and let it close up. I reallllllly want to get it redone because I loved the way it looked on me. Other than that, I want to get my rook and tragus done, and when I lose weight and get to my goal, I'll celebrate with belly button piercing. :)

I think the piercings you're considering are very beautiful but they are very painful and the restrict what you can wear. For example, lace shirts get very stuck and tangled on them and many people have had them yanked out by their clothing.

Dermals are not as bad as everyone is claiming they are.. They really don't hurt anymore than any other piercing. I have one next to my eye and on my chest. I've had them on my side also. Yeah they can reject but oh well, it's not meant to stay forever. And if you don't want a scar from them then buyy some cream that helps fade scars. it's worked for me.

Dermals tend to reject a lot and they're just a major pain in the ass to maintain! Go for the septum one.

I have my lobes (4 holes each ear), daith, rook, conch, nose and nipple. Honestly, both dermals and septums are awesome, but it all depends on a couple factors, like jobs and such. Hell, I'd say go for both! It really all depends on what you can envision yourself in. Plus, two girls I work with either used to have a septum or still does, and they both said that it didn't hurt at all for them :)

try a rook piercing - it looks super cute and whilst it does hurt quite a lot and is a bit of a pain healing it is so unique and looks so pretty! if you get a curve bar or a captive ball ring in it too you can hide it really easily if you ever need to.

the septum looks amazing! i'd love to do it but my job is really corporate & I had to take out my nose piercing to work here - i'm stuck with 2x lobe, 1 tragus and 1 rook now.

I have had all the common face piercings, lips, nose, septum, brow (the only prominent scar) I have had my tongue pierced for 4 years, and I've had a microdermal anchor on the back of my neck for two years. I haven't had any problems with it at all. In fact, I'm getting 3 more on my chest sometime soon, whenever I come up with disposable 200 bucks.
I find them very easy to take care of, and they actually have the lowest rejection rate, despite what people are saying on this thread. As long as you take precautions and clean them, they are great body mods. You do have to have them surgically removed, so you'll want to think long and hard on where you place them. I would never get any on my arms, exposed neck, or anything below my chest to be honest, there's too much of a chance of them getting whacked or snagged, and that HURTS.
I do love my anchor, though, I get lots of compliments and questions, and the occasional "EW! Why would you do that?" from a rude person, but I think they are beautiful and totally worth the 0.75 second of pain.

I currently have spider bites, which are two lip piercings on one side of the lip. And I have my nose. Something I really like is the anti eyebrow. It's a surface piercing right below the eye. Any piercings are fine to me as long as it suites your face!

I am adddicted to piercings. Although i don't want very drastic ones, due to the fact that i will not want them when i am older. Right now, the most drastic one i have is my roook. Which i love.
