I recently did my hair an ombré color. The person who did it colored the top part of my hair too dark completely black. How can I lighten my hair myself at home without it looking like a disaster?

Honey and water in a cup let it set for a few minutes then mix in that part of hair wrap in tin foil and wash out. The honey has traces of peroxide in it and will help I have dark hair and it works.

^if you try that honey method you're going to have to repeat it for weeks until you get a result. I'm pretty sure they sell ombre hair dyes that come with all that you need. If you only want to top lightened, you're going to have to search up a video on how to do it if you start from the top down instead of the bottom up :)

I know that lemon juice lighten hairs, but I don't know if it would work with the dye..

Did they use permanent color? I did hair for 20 years+ be carefully worth trying to lighten it at home. You can turn out red and brassy.

If it's semi perm you can use a clarifying shampoo wrap it and apply heat w/ a dryer to pull out some of the color.

Why not tell them it's too dark? If they were a reputable colorist/stylist they should fix it if you don't like it.

I say go back. Doing this kind of correction at home can bring bad results. A good salon should have no problem lighting it up for you.
