I have black heads all over my nose, around my nostrils, around my lips on my chin and they've started to appear elsewhere on my face. I have tried many products and stick to a strict wash regime if you wanna call it that but nothing over several years has improved the appearance of them. I've heard of retin-A but don't know anyone who has used it and let's face it the internet says one thing then on another page it's saying something else. So if anyone has used it please tell me your thoughts, if it worked and did you suffer any irritation with this product? Thankyou.

I've used retin-a for years. But its not something to jump into lightly. Its very potent & most people don't use it correctly. Its not something you slather all over your face like a moisterizer. Most people think if a little is good, a lot will be better. NOT TRUE. Its supposed to be applied sparingly & thinly to affected areas only esp. when you first use it. And don't use it every night in the beginning. Start off with every 2 two nights for a 2-3 weeks before switching to every other night. It comes in different strengths & forms (gel & cream). You have to keep it away from your eyes, mouth, & edges of the nose (on the nose is ok), It will burn these areas & it will be red, swollen, hurt & peel like crazy. Its only supposed to be used at night because it will make your skin sun sensitive. I always recommend someone who wants to try retin-a to start off with an over the counter retinol which is a lower strength form of retin-a for 3-6 months before attempting retin-a. Although you have to be careful with that too. Follow all the same rules as retin-a, and always do a patch test. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Treatment is a good one to start with. Although for blackheads, I would would go on a salicylic acid skincare routine instead. Salicylic acid dissolves the excess oil & debris in the pores. You can find cleansers, moisterizers, and even foundations with this ingredient in it. But acids don't mix well with retinols. You can't use them at the same time as retinol product. You can alternate like I do. I've used retin-a for over 15 years so my skin is well acclimated to it. I use acids one night & retin-a the next night. Again, always to a patch test & read your ingredient listings to make sure you're not mixing "actives". But, there will always be a few who cannot tolerate any of these actives, so just be conscious of that.

I think Atralin is another version of Atralin of Tretinoin.

It can be very harsh if over used. Not everyone's skin can tolerate it mine , however, can.
