Hm I'm not sure. You'll have to do some tests. Have you been using that foundation for awhile and you didn't have trouble with it? What about the concealer? If you have used those without any problems but you used a primer and broke out, I guess could be the primer.

Do you know if it was a silicone based primer? And are any of these products new products?

Silica is silicone. It's a sealant, and it could have sealed your pores so they couldn't flush out the bacteria. That causes acne pretty easily. Do you use it regularly?

Did you do anything else skincare/facewise today that could've made you break out? Anything new? An allergy?

Erin, have you washed your brushes with anything different? I had this problem a few weeks ago, I used the same stuff, but I kept getting little bumps on my face, like an allergic reaction. Then I realized I washed all my brushes with a new shampoo, when I rewashed my brushes, my skin went back to normal.

Dimethicone is silicone. Silica is a mineral that is used to absorber oils. Maybe it's hormonal? If it's not anything else. Are you near that time of the month?

The parabens in your product might be a contribution to it (ethylparaben, propylparaben, methylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben).

How long are you using this routine? I don't belive you could break out so much in a day.. unless it's an allergic reaction.. but it could be clugging for a week or something like that but you didn't notice.. maybe you could change your make up routine, try another foundation or primer and you'll see what happens.. and you must wash your brushes even if you use them just twice a week :)

I agree with Hannah K. It's loaded with parabens.. So be aware of them. They are the most used preservative in cosmetic products, they help to prevent the growth of bacteria in your products. While that's all fine and dandy, they have a negative effect on our skin, and more importantly our health. It has been linked to cancers such as, breast and testicular. They have a weak estrogen effect and has been found in breast cancer tumors. They also have a negative effect on our reproductive system, and since it has a effect on our hormones it's been linked to endometriosis. These chemicals are absorbed through our skin, and possibly disrupting our endocrine systems. Now as far as skin goes, it can cause irritation, acne, rosacea, and the list goes on! This is a very controversial topic, but it's worth educating yourself about them!

Could be the products or what you used to apply your products. Sponges, brushes, etc.

I think you didn't suit the makeup, your skin was most likely irritated. You should probably not use those products again on your skin.
