Before I say anything else, I'd like to apologize if this is in the wrong category. I just thought...you know...moustaches are hair...but I'm still not sure if this is the right category, so sorry.
Anyway, I have a moustache. Not like a big one with curled ends or anything drastic like that, I mean upper lip hair that's really dark. I struggle to apply foundation to it because it will go orange (even though my foundation isnt at all orange...) but if I go around it, I'm left with a dark moustache on pale skin surrounded by slightly more tanned skin because of the foundation and argh! I just don't know what to do! I can't get it threaded and I can't wax it off or get rid of it because my mother won't let me, so what do I do about this MOUSTACHE?!

Take tweezers and tweeze then out one by one... might hurt and take a little while but the hair will stay gone for a week or two, depending on your hair growth.

You could get it waxed or tweeze it, just don't shave it because it'll get thicker and darker

Tweeze the mustache if you can't wax it.

How are you applying foundation? I've heard that it's best to apply in downward strokes if you have some facial hair.

I'd also encourage you to maybe talk to your mum again and explain how it's making you feel and ask her why she's reluctant to let you get it waxed or threaded. Of course if she still says no you will have to just accept it.

I'm also sure it's not that noticeable. Imperfections on us seem 10x worse than how other people see them, trust me :)

I must admit Bea your delivery on the mustache matter made me laugh especially the part of it not being the curled up type all I could picture was the Pringles guy and yes you posted in the hair category so your safe lol.. :-) May I ask why your mother is not ok with the waxing?

If your mom won't let you get threaded or waxed then remove it with a razor. Also Wayne Goss has a video about this, he says make sure you apply foundation downwards on any area you have hair to make it sit. You should watch his video for more tips😊

Downward strokes...got it :) I'll give it a good go, thanks! I can't shave it either, definitely not, sorry :/ And Alma, my mother isn't ok with it because she says I'll have to keep doing it (which would be my problem not hers, and I wouldn't mind) and because she says we all go through a hairy stage and that it will even out eventually. I sort of don't care if it evens out EVENTUALLY, I am not at the age to be dealing with excess facial hair! But yeah, that's her reasons :)

I'd say wax it but if your mother is against it what about bleaching it?

Aug 6, 2014

Bea S.

Hmm bleaching...maybe...I have really sensitive skin, would that be ok on it? I mean, I had eczema around my mouth...

If you've got eczema I wouldn't recommend bleaching. I think it's got too much chance of irritating it. But I've never used bleach for facial hair so someone else who's used it might be able to advise you better.

Well if it helps every women have a bit moustache...just that somone have lighter than others..(less and more too) Personally I use hair bleach (from the brand jolene) you can also wax it in spas and stuff if you have the money for it ofc ☺️

If I'm correct I think they may have some facial bleaching kits for sensitive skin but do some research on it before you decide to do it because of the eczema.

Maybe talk to your mom about it more. it doesn't even out lol what you got now is going to stay there. maybe pluck a few here & there just so that you won't have as many hairs. bleaching is an option too. I personally shave mine, it's not a big deal. & as far as it getting thicker & darker... that's a myth.

@Kat. Some peoples hair does grow back darker and thicker. It depends on the person. My hair used to be blonde...now it's brown.

I'd either say tweeze it or bleach it, as the other girls said above. As for the sensitive skin, they also have mild bleach, the one I use is mild with aloe Vera in it.

I highly recommend waxing if you can get away with it. Tell her you're really uncomfortable with it and that's the last thing you need while you're "maturing". If all else fails, try a wax at home kit, or the major drugstore stuff that wipes off. Search for reviews on at-home hair removal kits. I would not shave it!!

Well if it's blonde yeah. but hers is already really dark.

Or tweeze it...how painful! They do have these devices that are supposed to mimic threading...they are at Ulta and are a very small coil with handles on either end and you curve it and roll it against your skin and it pulls the hairs out. But waxing is 100x better.

Do you have dark hair on your tummy too? If yes, you could have a hormone imbalance.

I have this problem too, and believe it or not, I shave it. And NO it does not grow back thicker and darker, this is simply untrue. I have PCOS and and have struggled for years with hair removal. I have tried it all. Shaving is a great way to exfoliate your skin, many celebrities do it daily just to exfoliate. Makeup goes on super smooth too, if your hair is dark, and coarse, you will have stubble, just like shaving your legs. But it is super easy to just shave it. Also I only use cheap disposable razors and toss them after 3 uses. And use a shaving cream. Hope this helps. :) it's okay we're only human, and we all have hair...really no big deal.

@Jen C I also have PCOS and I shave my lip too. It's probably the smoothest/softest area of my body, haha.
