My experience with Bare Mineral was that they are an amazing company at selling you things. I had my face done at a mall about 6 years ago. I bought some of their foundation and a mineral veil powder and brush. The whole lot set me back almost $100. I really knew nothing about foundations at the time, though I had a couple I wasn't crazy about. What ended up happening was that after a while I could never get the foundation to cover my redness. I'd apply so many layers and it just got mask-y and yuck. I also struggled to match my skin tone as well. I still have some of the mineral veil left over, but I used up most of the foundation because I needed so much of it. Later I learned that mineral makeups will irritate rosacea so I just quit using the product completely. I think that's why it took so many layers to cover after a while, because it was making my redness worse. The brush wasn't helping matters. I was feeling that brush compared to my other brushes the other day and oh my god, it was not soft. It was a very coarse brush compared to the ones I use now. I was such a brush newb, I didn't know any better. My skin is better off without their products, I'm convinced. Their whole line of "this make up is good for your skin. It's healthy. You can sleep in it..." I think that's just hype. There were a ton of mineral foundations after BM came out and minerals were a craze for a while. I'm sort of glad it's over, TBH. Mineral makeup might really work for some people, but for me it was just a big fail. Also, it's kind of messy and a hassle to travel with. I just moved the last of the mineral products and brush to my unloved makeup box the other day. The end of an era. I ain't crying. (Except for the lost money and time spent, swirl, tap, buffing...)

I have a bunch but lately I'm loving H20 Skin tint by pixie which is a gel formula tinted moisturizer. It provides light to med. coverage. I've been experimenting with RCMA cream foundation, which is amazing stuff and full coverage. I also use Paula's Choice, all bases covered, which is a tinted moisturizer with a very high SPF. It's not my ideal because all that spf gives it a bit of a white cast. I've figured out that if I use a tinted powder with it, it works fine. What are you looking for in a foundation?

I'm looking for full coverage without having to over apply. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have only tried the powders from Bare Minerals and agree with Jenny completely. It made me break out and didn't wear well for me throughout the day. And that stupid brush that it came with was the most horrible scratchy thing I ever attempted to use on my face.
Nowadays I have been using the Urban Decay Naked skin foundation, paired with their brightening and tightening primer as well as their Naked skin pressed powder, and I love it! It's easily blendable and buildable, and doesn't feel like I have anything on my skin after a full face application. I have oily/combo skin and it these products last all day for me without needing touchups. The only other high end foundation I can recommend would be he Estee Lauder double wear. It is amazing I terms of coverage and wears for 15+ hours for me no problem. This one sets a little faster so you need to blend quickly vs the Naked skin. It covers like a dream though and really is a wonderful full coverage foundation.
Good luck finding your hg foundation!

Haha we should start a class action lawsuit. I spent a small fortune on the stuff and it really does nothing for me. I saw a video where Wayne Goss recommends dusting mineral foundation on before your liquid foundation for more full coverage and I've used it for that a few times with good results.

I've tried it and worked it every which way and never had true success with it. I found that it made my skin look flat and void of any dimension. They really get you when you go to one of their stores. The lighting makes you look great while wearing the foundation and then when you hit "reality"...nastiness. My daughter is a MUA and she dreads the day when someone asks for a mineral foundation because she does not like working with it but if client is firm on using it she will do so but it truly ages a person's skin in regards to appearance.

Yes, Shelley, all their hype about it not settling into fine lines! That's exactly what it does. One day not that long ago I was in the mall, walking by their store (on my way to Sephora!) and heard their sales pitch video and it hit me: it's like an infomercial. It's that kind of ridiculous hype where you end up buying a cheap set of $10 knives for only three payments of $39.95. I can see why your daughter dreads using it! It's like dealing with a cult, I think, almost.

Omg! Yes Jenny!! Their pretty store just sucked me in like a dang drug. And I'll never forget when the artist asked me what I was currently using foundation wise (it was MAC) and she bashed them left and right. Almost had me feeling like my skin was going to fall off into abyss if I didn't stop using it. That didn't settle too well for me intially because I used to be a corporate sales trainer and the number one thing I would tell people is not to bash another company regardless of their personal feelings about them. I fell for thw hype and sense of urgency and bada bing I was out the door carrying after dropping a nice chunk of change. And I can remember that late night infomercial...I used to sit there and watch them...glued to the screen.lol.

Hi rachel, I'd go w/ the Estee lauder double wear. best full coverage if you have oily skin. A new hg for me is the lancome idole teint 24 hr. It's medium coverage, but build able. it looks beautiful on the skin w/o having that caked on finish.

I just tried the Hourglass Hyraluronic Tint. Now you would think it would be light coverage- nope. It is gorgeous medium coverage and you can dab a little extra on spots that you want to build to full. In love with this. So quick and easy to apply as well. Also agree with Monica- I love the Immaculate. Hourglass has great stuff. I find Bare Minerals to be messy and cumbersome to apply: tap tap buff. Never was a fan. Tried it once and ended up tossing it. I'm a liquid/ cream gal.
