How to achieve/maintain ashy hair like this?

I'm obsessed with ashy brown tones, I can't stand any sort of brassiness in my hair; but my hair seems to pull red tones really easily.
I want a colour similar to this but I find no ash dye actually keeps this color. Is their certain products/shampoos to use to keep the ash and cancel red?

I know blue shampoos perhaps would help to maintain this sortof colour :) it'd cancel out any red tones.

Purple shampoos. They cancel out any brassiness/red tones. Worked very well for me when I was a blonde.

Personally the only shampoo that I've been able to find that's a blue based purple is from Avon if you're able to get that where you are. Another darker purple shade I can think of is the lee Staffords purple shampoo but purple won't do much to keep redness out, it's more for blondes so I'd recommend the silver shampoo and conditoner line from Avon. :)
