Sounds like its synthetic hair. Try using virgin or unprocessed hair that will cut down on tangling.

Honestly, the whole you need to wash your hair thing or else its unhygenic is just not true. I started a little experiment almost half a year back, since I didnt need to wash my hair a lot anyways the transition was not hard for me. I stopped washing my hair with shampoo entirely and it never gets greasy anymore. Your hair gets greasy because when using shampoo you strip your hair and your scalp gets 'confused' trying to get it's balance back. Just wash your hair with water every now and then. As long as you don't use strong hair products (like gels) you'll be fine.

I disagree, it eventually does get "unhygenic." But not washing your hair for a few days to weeks gives your hair time to renew without the heat, chemicals, etc. It's actually REALLY REALLY REALLY healthy not to wash your hair. But you should eventually wash your hair because it'll get gross. If you can live with the greasiness, washing your hair once a month would be amazing for your hair. I wouldn't be able to handle all the oils, my hair gets gross, really fast.

But you don't produce exces oils anymore, that's the point. You can simply was your hair/scalp with water, as I do every week and that's enough to keep it genuinly clean. I'm not saying you shouldn't care for your hair, just that our conception of needing all this soap all the time is wrong. When you're used to washing with soap every day it takes a long time to build up to less washing. It's a bit like running, you don't start off and run a marathon when your body is not used to it, you have to train. I havent used shampoo in months and my hair is never greasy and has been super soft without any hassle or deep conditioning. My sister is even working towards less shampoo washing as well, but she rotates between shampoo and just water now. Seriously, it's possible and not unhygenic at all, you just need to work up to it.
