My hair is thick and naturally straight and I want to wear my hair in waves but it usually falls out.

You can wrap your dry hair loosely around socks - there are YouTube tutorials for heatless curls/waves overnight that you can follow and I've tried it and it actually does work really well.

I always braid my hair at night and put whatever styoling gel I've been using on it that helps it curl more. So easy for when I'm in a rush in the morning. I just unbraid it, put some heat on any frizz pieces and I'm out the door :)

After you wash your hair, dry it and straight away put it in a tight bun overnight, that will create kinda wrinklets. for waves, french plait it straight away or fishtail plait it:-) all work:-)

To get loose waves, I put mine in a bun (where you twist the hair and wrap it around to form a bun, and then put a hair tie on it). However, if you wanted smaller waves I would suggest braiding it :)

I think they use those 'bendies' or styrofoam rods to curl their hair in and go to sleep

I have tried everything to Achieve wavy hair. From my experience I find that braiding your hair is the only thing that works for people with thick hair. My hair is very thick so most other methods don't give my hair enough wave. If you have thinner hair I think lots of options work but I would still braid your hair at night after you shower. It the easiest and most effective way.
