Here in the Netherlands, if they don't hire you because you have a tattoo, you can sue them because that is not a good motive so that is illigal :). But I don't think there are consequences other then infection possibily?

I agree Renay, you definitely found a way to word it better then it was in my head lol.

Wow. That was pretty rude Whitney, considering you are new here you arent exactly giving a good impression of yourself.

My mum works in a school and has tons of visible tattoos, workplaces aren't Victorian anymore, and like Olivia G said, they are starting to accept piercings and tattoos.

Whitney

You are forgiven. Glad you said sorry and I am happy that you know now that when you have a butterfly above your butt crack it is a symbol of power. I am very happy that you realised your mistakes in your previous comments and it doesn't matter how old you are, you keep learning new thjngs about life. I hope I will see a post by you soon titled: my new butterfly butt crack tattoo. Because butterflies are awesome and so are buttcracks 😜

Nah just kidding, but for real now: I don't have any tattoo's and I personally would never want them. I will give my honest oppinions about tattoo's right now:

Tattoo's are beautyful and such an awesome way of self expression. But I will never have the balls to let someone stick a needle with ink into my flesh. People with tattoo's are not people you can disrespect, you should look up to them knowing that they went to pain with a needle filled with ink in there body while we are just some pussy's lookjng at it. Si jext time you see someone with a butt crack butterfly, I expect you to tell that person that his of her tattoo is awesome.

My oppinion!

Oooh and about what somepeoe say of not getting a job with tattoo's and sh*t like that.

I know someone, that does gymnasium and has some tattoo's. Just to make it clear:

Gymnasium --> high educated

Havo--> pretty high educated

Mavo--> normal educated

Amarican high school is mavo here where I am from. I also do gymnasium just like that person I know. That is how I met that person ;). Anyway, I hope that that shiwd that people with tattoo's are not for "dumb" people or anything!!

No one is defensive, lol. I think it's funny how I can ne'er voice my opinion either without getting either looked down upon or called "offended"..trust me, nothing offends me. lol.

I just like debate, and I also like figuring out why people think the way they do. ;)

I think you kids don't understand the definition of imply

Sep 13, 2014

W J.

I never said having tattoos means you lack intelligence, I said having tattoos implies that you lack skills such as good decision making to employers

Sep 13, 2014

W J.

In the real world, it doesn't matter if you have skills, it's more important to convince employers that you have these skills wether you have them or not. Having visible tattoos and pericings irrefutably lowers the chance of you having a good impression on potential employers.

@whitney how does what I choose to put on my skin mean I lack decision making skills? Are you saying someone who tattoos a family member on their body or remember of an event like 9/11 or a quote that has helped them get through hard times means they're incapable of performing tasks?

Remembrance of an event*

Olivia I said IMPLY

Sep 13, 2014

W J.

Look up what imply means.

Sep 13, 2014

W J.

It's not about what you can do, it's about persuading others that you can do it. By having visible tattoos, you're putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Sep 13, 2014

W J.

That is irrefutable.

Sep 13, 2014

Olivia G.

I know what imply means, and tattoos do not affect performance and people judging someone for having tattoos and making an assumption about them before getting to know them is stereotyping.

It's called the business world

In an ideal world, people should be able to do whatever they want and not be judged, but we don't live in such world. Thus , to have the best chance in succeeding in life , one should avoid things that put them at a disadvantage.

People need to accept change, that in today's world people are expressing themselves physically and we should not repress someone for their physical expression. We need to accept change and differences and individuality or we will never grow as people, we need to look beyond physical appearance

And I've seen plenty of people working at nice places and with full sleeves and nose piercings

" I love how those tattoos all over her body are so expressive of her individuality" said no HR manager ever

Your definition of nice places and mine are clearly different
