Buffing it out with a kabuki brush helps me. I use the Sigma F80. Also, a good setting spray helps out a bunch ;)

Did you use a face cream before you put on your foundation? Is the foundation for oily skin type? Because these foundations often get cakey... Another thing you can try is to mix the foundation with a little bit of your daily cream. Hope I could help you (:

I agree with both of these lovely ladies. I think foundation most often looks cakey when you have skin on the drier side. perhaps you have combo/dry skin. in that case you should stay away from foundations for oily skin, as they'll make you even drier. again, like they said, use moisterizer, a lighter hand, another tool, a different type of foundation, all or some of those thing and you'll likely have a better result :)

I saw that you've got Acne? In germany we have a oil which is called "Nachtkerzen-Öl" it's good for stressed skin... Maybe you could find something like this an try it out to get the Acne better (:

I had the same problems. Scrub your face, use a moisturizing day and night cream and a primer :)

If you have dry skin, don't use a powder foundation by itself and also don't use a matte finish foundation either. It will look dry and cakey.
I also find that if I'm using a liquid foundation, that using my fingers to blend it in works much better than any brush or even the Beauty blender.

Or try mixing a tiny bit of moisturizer with your foundation to thin it out a bit. I love the Sigma F80, and I've had really good luck with the *real* Beauty Blender, too.
