I was thinking about buying a CHI Air from Target but then I've been reading Target sells fake CHI's so I wanted to know if that was true or not and also if the CHI Air is a real CHI as well if this makes sense.

Whether its real or fake, CHI is a poorly made product. I work for a distributor that sells these worldwide and since they outsourced their parts to china to be made they're even worse. Don't but one!!!! You will only need to return it.

No, Target does not sell any counterfeit items (its against the law). The CHI sold there are the real thing, they just don't have a large quantity of different types so i suggest you get it at Ulta, they have more colors & variety of different kinds.

If you're going to spend the money on purchasing a professional grade product , buy from a professional ! :) I noticed you have textured hair . Don't go for anything with a setting that doesn't go up to 400 degrees, & use a protective cream or spray on your hair before .

DON'T buy Chi! I had to return the same flat iron 4 times because it died out or the handle broke! I have the HAI straightener and have had it for 2 years and still works perfectly!

I've bought two CHI straightners and they did not last me a year before they gave out!

The Chi's they sell at Target are bottom of the barrel shit - probably cost less than $1 to manufacture. Save up and do yourself a favor by upgrading to a more expensive iron. Cheap products won't last long as you can see by all the comments above. Good luck!

**Thank you everyone for your opinions. But if the CHI brand isn't a good what would be a better brand to buy? (I really want matching flat iron, dryer and curling iron and or wand)

I'd say ghd. I have a chi however and have had it for over 6 years and have never had a single
Issue with it. Mind you it is a special edition one straight from cosmoprof.

My Mom has had two CHI straighteners. The first one lasted for as long as I can remember. (Literally.) One day it fell off of the counter, onto a cement floor and broke. Not the products fault. Simply age and hard flooring. I think they are pretty good.

I have had two CHis and the current one is practically broken but I still prefer to flat iron with it. Go to a beauty supply store.

In my opinion, a CHI iron is overrated, for textured hair aside from a stove iron...I've had the best results from a Titanium plated flat-iron. They are not as easy to find at least in NC they're not but TJ Maxx tends to have them and I've seen them at ULTA and Sally's.

If your going to buy a chi, I suggest getting the ceramic, plain black one. The plastic ones with cute designs are crappy to me.

Trakessa, I think that the most important part of using any heat styling is how you prepare your hair!! I am a hairstylist and I work with coarse hair all of the time. Research style preps for your hair type.. It's a 10 is good for many. Even an argan oil will do the job. Protect your hair and any flat iron that has high heat settings will do well. Also, be mindful of the flat iron size.. I would get a thin (1 inch) flat iron to assure that it is equal to your partings you take when flat ironing!

I have a karmin titanium after many disappointing CHIs, better get a quality product that you know will work.

I don't like chi straighteners, have bad reviews. I use the Karmin g3 and it woks amazing, it's the best one I've tried. :P

No the ones at target are not fake. Their just a cheaper flat iron made by CHI. I love love love my chi original but after having it for 3 years it broke but I'm going to buy it again because it works as a curling and flat iron
