I have tried just about everything for my acne. I am afraid getting on Accutane. my dermatologist did suggest spironolactone, its a medication for blood pressure but has been proven to clear up hormonal acne in women. has anyone taken this before. I've asked two doctors if its safe they have said yes. but I want to know if has worked for anyone else.

I tried this years ago when I was maybe in my late teens or so. I don't remember this worked and I later went on to take Accutane. Accutane made me nervous at first but I had no side effects except for dry skin and it changed my life. I'm so happy I took it. If your acne is really bad or even moderate, you should consider it.

I work for a dermatologist at a medical spa and spironlactone is a very common med that he prescribes for hormonal acne. I see a huge difference in my clients/ his patients skin when they are using it. Its interesting but it really does work!

I used it in combination with aczone/tazorac topicals. It did wonders, but it does take a month or so to see results. Just make sure you drink lots if water since the pill is a diuretic. Made me lose 10 pounds too lol!

I'm using spironolactone and aczone, and although the spiro takes a while to kick in, it's amazing in the long run.
