I don't think they would do anything to your hair if they're a deposit only color. It wouldn't lift anything since your hair is dark.

You have to strip the color from your hair (with something like Color Oops) and bleach it. Then you can try dying it plum again. The purple color won't show up if added to a dark shade.

Try using a soap cap...which is shampoo mixed with your bleach and developer...it should lift but make sure you WATCH IT..then apply the violet hair color

You should try using the crazy colors. It'll give you at least a tint of purple till you can afford to get better dye. And if it does nothing, well you just deep conditioned your hair, no harm done.

But if you can get it, I'd suggest getting loreal hi lights for dark hair. It's barely damaging, less than most dyes. I went from black to bright red. I believe they have a plum color, but if not you could go over it with a veggie dye purple. That's what I did when I got sick of red, I just threw on some special effects purple and it was a pretty plum purple with bits of red shining through.

Anything you put on it now is going to darken it or do nothing. your either going to have to keep washing and wait til it fades or lift some of the color out back to a level 5

I know you said you don't want to bleach but the least harmful way to do this is to bleach bath your hair. bleach, shampoo, and conditioner in your hair for 10 minutes will lift the color out.

I have a level 5 shade of plum/violet red hair at the moment.

I use matrix socolor professional line.

the formula is

1oz matrix sored-rv
1/2oz socolor 5vr
1/2oz socolor 5rv
equal parts 20 vol developer
