There are lots on the market. What's your price point?
I've used Hard Candy's Sheer Primer, Korres primer, Smashbox, Urban Decay, MUFE, Tarte and even BB cream as a primer.
My suggestion is if you have a mall with stores that have makeup counters or a Sephora ask for samples. :D That's where I get the vast majority of my primers from and have only bought three - the Hard Candy, the BB cream and the Korres (which actually was a points redemption).

Hard Candy's is $8 for a 1.something oz tube. It's not bad but it does have a greasy feeling. L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Secret No.1 Magic Perfecting Base feels like grease to me or like a soy candle. From all the drugstore brands I've never really been happy with any of them. Hard Candy feels greasy to me but it's not that bad like L'Oreal's which I absolutely hate since it makes my foundation cakey. I don't care for Rimmel London's Fix & Perfect Foundation Primer (which is not the same as their "pro" one) because it was on the orange side. The new one is clear.
For $10 via Sephora.com (shipping is $5.95 I believe if under $50)... there's:
Fresh Prime & Glow http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P277402&categoryId=S10853
Benefit Cosmetics One Prime Day ($28 Value), $10 http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P291808&categoryId=S10853
At Ulta.com there's
Rimmel London's Fix & Perfect Pro Primer $7.49 http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3510089
Palladio Herbal Foundation Primer $11.99 http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2890011

I know it sounds weird, but I swear by Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel (around $8). I actually think more people use it as a primer than for chafing, lol. I've tried all kinds high and low end and this works just as well as any expensive primer.

There's also the E.L.F. mineral primer for $6 too. It comes out from a pump and applies just like Hard Candy only you get a better even amount with each pump. It feels greasy on your fingers but like Hard Candy's once it dries a little your face will be smooth.
Hard Candy works very well and does have that silicony/greasy feel on your fingers. As I mentioned earlier though once it dries it feels sooo smooth. I'd think Hard Candy's primer is the more easily available primer to go with and you get a fair amount per product. You'll find them at Wal-mart.
Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel (around $8) works also just as well as smashbox and other primers plus you'll be getting more per product. It seems kinda strange but there are many other girls and myself who swear by it. The only issue is that you HAVE to wash/remove your makeup every night but you should be doing that anyway. It's safe for your face (it was designed for chafing so rest assured) and also available at Wal-mart, Target, walgreens, etc.
STAY FAR AWAY from No7's face primer. It was more like paste and dried my already dry skin even more. It did nothing as a face primer. No7 is a brand you can find in Target. I haven't tried any other products from their brand since but thought I would send a warning to anyone else with that.
Hope that helped!

Thanks Manda, i have been searching and i have not made my mind yet, the hard candy one sounds iffy. but my face is really dry so maybe it can be good for dry skin, i just don't want to purchase something and not like it. and i love online shopping i just hate the wait.
