I would go with a DSLR with an HD camera setting... I currently have the canon t2i and love it. I got mine for a marked down price...around 500-600$. So it really depends when you find a sale, but DSLR's are great to have to take photos with

I use a Sony Bloggie HD there abut $150, it takes stills but in addition to that I have a Nikon D50... Id focus more on your lighting more than camera there are plenty of people who use just a point and shoot but have an amazing lighting set up which makes all the diffrence!

I agree with Alison, having good lighting is very important! Doesn't matter if you have a good camera or not, if you have bad lighting you will have bad photos.

agree! and for lighting the most inexpensive was I have found to be very efficient is to buy one of those tall lamps that hold 5 bulbs on those like bendable arms. I then removed the bulb covers and switched the light bulbs to white florescent lighting. The bulbs cost a little more but they last longer and use less electricity than traditional bulbs.
