I'm new to tinted moisturizers. Is there a certain technique to blending it out? it looks splotchy on me.. seems like it sets faster than I can blend. How do you guys apply yours? It's just a .5 oz. sample, so I wont be devastated if it just isn't right for me. I'm planning on picking up TheBalm Balm Shelter TM tomorrow, anyway.

I don't wear tinted moisturizer very much anymore, but I used to wear it almost every day to school for a super quick leaving-the-house-and-I'm-already-running-five-minutes-late look. I would just blend in a circular motion with my finger tips and then set with a powder. Maybe it's the type you're using? I used the Smashbox tinted moisturizer and would definitely recommend it. Where's the sample from?

That's actually the one that I was actually planning on getting when I went to Sephora to look at them! I remember when I sampled it on my hand I thought it oxidized kind of weirdly...I think it's just that product and not your blending techniques. :)

I just use my hands/fingers.

I use my hands for products that sheer. If it goes on blotchy I guess you haven't moisturized enough before applying it! Your skin absorbs the moisture in two seconds and you're left with dry makeup on your face. So moisturize well and it'll be easier!

I use a foundation brush, my real technique foundation brush to be exact, Io audio agree with everyone else, moisturize before :)

Have any of you ever tried the Sephora brand tinted moisturizer? I got it today and I can already tell, it's SO much better then the Laura Mercier. it has the same pigmentation, but it's lighter feeling on your skin, not NEARLY as thick, (LM is like a paste, Sephora actually feels like a moisturizer) and WAY more moisturizing! it hasn't given me a hard time blending at all! I'm so glad I picked it up. It looks like a squeze type bottle, but when you pull off the cap is has a pump. it's amazing! and only $21!

I use the highlighter brush form Sonia Kashuk. Works well with all my face products! From a thick tinted moisturizer to thin. As well as foundation. I use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer (oil free) and it's actually my favorite. But then again, products are different for everybody! Keep trying samples until you find one that works best for your skin. Sephora gives small samples for free. Or just try it on at Sephora. Tinted moisturizer is totally ok to use with your fingers though.

I use my fingertips. Your body temperature is going to prolong it a tad longer from setting.

You know what works really well for me? I mix my moisturizer with a touch of foundation -- it glides on very smooth, evens my skin out, and covers up any tiny blemishes.
