Hey everyone,
So I have an interview with Sephora on Monday and I was wondering if any of you had any advice for me. As far as what they look for in employees, and what kind of questions they may ask. Also what would be the appropriate attire and makeup to wear that day? I wanted to do a cat liner with a bold lip but I wasn't sure if that would be appropriate. They told me it was a group interview I am not sure exactly what that entails. So if you have any tips I would greatly appreciate it! :D

I've never had an interview with Sephora, but from my experience with group interviews I think they're all the same. They'll probably sit you all down in a room & first tell you about the company & all that good stuff. Then go around the table, have you introduce yourselves & ask you why you want to work for the company & questions like that. Next they'll probably give certain scenarios & ask what you would do in the situation. From there, they'll probably decide which people they want to come back for a second interview.

Hey Alexis! I currently work for sephora. I was hired a year ago for holiday and they kept me on. If you have a group interview around this time of year it may be for holiday hires as well. If that's the case the interview will most likely be focused on client service questions. They will love to hear that you have a passion for makeup as well, but the most important thing is going to be your passion for clients! Our motto is always finding a way to say yes to the client, so keep that in mind when answering their questions.
I think a cat eye and bold lip is totally appropriate! As long as it's sophisticated, show them what you can do =]
Just show them your personality and have fun with them, act like you are talking to your best friend! It's honestly the best job that I have ever had. Good luck!! Let us know how it goes!

Hey Everyone, I just got back and after a moment of freaking out thinking I was going to be terribly late ( I was actually the first one there) and collecting myself and meeting the 3 other girls we walked into the the backroom and had a very calm interview. I am all nerves usually but the atmosphere was great, I emphasized the importance of great customer service and personalizing the experience. So I think I did well it being my first interview, well ever! I greatly appreciate all your support and feedback. I ended up doing a cat eye with a shimmery white gold in the inner corner and brow bone the same gold shimmer (MAC's Vanilla pigment) on the cheek bone and very sheer natural blush and a fuchsia lip (MAC's Girl About Town). So fingers crossed I get called back! Thanks again!

Great job, Alexis! I agree with Courtney, as I work for Sephora as well. They probably loved that you talked about personalizing customer service which is really what Sephora strives for. I hope you get it! :)

Hey everyone.. guess what? I just (literally like 2 minutes ago) got a call from Sephora they want to see me for a second interview! I am so excited/happy! Second interview is on Tuesday. Steff or Courtney can you clue me in on what happens for a second interview? I remember the store director telling me they do role playing and things like that but that may be for another time. I can't recall. Thanks again everyone! :D

To be honest I actually didn't have a second interview so I'm not 100% sure on how that goes. I'm sure it's just going to be all the same thing, just more on a thorough basis on client service & to see your sparkling personality :)

My second interview was pretty similar to my first, just more intimate. It was actually still a group interview but there were only 4 of us this time, and it was with both the store director and the store specialist. The questions were similar but we all really just got more of a chance to talk!

Hey everyone thanks for the encouraging and helpful messages! I forgot to update after the second interview. So I had the second interview last Tuesday and I just got a call today and they said they want me to come in for a demo. Does that mean I am hired for sure? Or is this another part of the hiring process? Also what should I expect during these demos?

yay congratulations!! I was hired last year at Sephora and they kept me on too! I never had to do a demo round, but my guess is that you will be doing role plays. they'll give you a scenario and you'll most likely work with another person and one of you will be the client, the other will be the cast member. They just want to see you in action :]
