If you want an affordable palette, anything from Coastal Scents I adore, but this palette in particular is really really nice:

yes the 88 matte palette from coastal scents it very nice.
you can build your own from MAC at any store or online with matte shadows.
Stars makeup haven has affordable matte shadows and you build your own palette too, they are amazing shadows mac dupes even.

Urban decay matte shadows are by far my favorite but sadly there not in many urban decay palettes, the shadows are like silk! i highly recommend them!

I have heard that all those large and inexpensive palette have some very toxic chemicals. I stopped using mine about a month ago and have noticed a considerable difference in the skin around my eye. With makeup it really seems that the more money you spend, the higher quality you're getting.

And keep in mind, Kim B., that many of the companies use the same ingredients from the same vendor. The quality difference actually comes in the filler. While some overseas makeup are not held to the FDA standards as makeup made in North America the fact is that there is very little difference between high end and lower end makeup quality.

Some of the high end stuff have so much filler ingredients that you're not paying for better ingredients but rather the filler and the name.

Yasmin. I completely agree. I think it's important to do your research before buying products. I even own several of them. I just think it's important for people to know what their buying, especially since it's not well advertised and the ingredients often sound like another language. That would be a good thread to start, "high quality vs. price or name".
