Wandering if anyone can recommend a good foundation to use for airbrushing? Mine cloggs up and is driving me insane!

Hi Danielle, I seem to have the same problem. The MAC airbrush foundation is good and it comes out very smooth, but to me it feels very heavy on the skin. It looks good in pictures though. The Temptu Pro has a really nice finish but those are the ones that clog up in my gun. They seem a little thicker than other foundations I have. I just mix some of the Temptu Pro moisturizer and it usually helps a little bit. What do you use?

Hi Christa,
Thanks for your reply. I use body art airbrush fondation. It is great for coverage and feels light on face as well, like your not wearing anythink but i have to thin with water when my gun cloggs up which thins it to much. I think i might have to give MAC a go! Cheers

I use an Iwata Revolution and Iwata Eclipse. Iwata is really the industry leader when it comes to airbrush tools. Their guns should be compatible with any compressor

Hi Danielle,
I really love Dinair as well. I use it on almost every bride I work with and it's never let me down! It conceals like a dream and it's very natural looking. It's also very easy to remove. Hope this helps. :)

I use the Iwata Eclipse airbrush and I use the Temptu S/B Foundations (silicone based). I haven't tried any other foundations, but I am pretty happy with the S/B Foundations.

I use Luminess Air, and a Tip for all airbrush foundation sprayers: Clean the spray chamber with an alcohol and water mix after every make-up application. (I use 1/3 Alcohol - 2/3 water). I also use a q-tip at the end of the sprayer to get excess cosmetic out of the spray nozzle.

You can thin your foundation with witch hazel and that will prevent it from clogging and then you can use just about any liquid foundation you want. You can use it to clean your airbrush by spraying it through on its own. Also depending on your model of airbrush, its a good idea to take the needle out and wipe it clean. Residue can build up on it and then it stops thinning the product as much as it would if it was clean.
