I hand a small/medium sized Remington curling wand and I was wondering if there was a way to make big waves with it.

Take bigger sections of hair and don't hold it tight around the barrel! Only hold for a liittle while depending on how thick your hair is! This works for me because I have extremely thin hair! If you have thick to medium thick I'm not sure how this would work for you:) this gives me loose beachy waves/curls:)
