I have really thick hair. And it's not the kind of thick where its just supper curly. I have overly thick hair. I usually get layers when I'm getting my hair cut but I'm tired of them. Is it a good idea to just grow my hair out withough adding more layers? Also, my hair is never smooth. It's usually dry and the tips are split no matter how may times I get them cut. I now it's mostly because of the heat I use on my hair, but if I just let it go natural it goes all frizzy and voluminous. Which I dislike. Is there any good products out there I could use to get rid of this frizzy mess?? xx

I have extremely thick hair also. I no longer have layers as my hair guy said that just adds more volume. The best thing I have found is the living proof products. Also I use to wash my hair every other day. I have now stretched that out to one a week at most. That had made a big difference in the dryness. After I wash it I let it air dry the I flat iron. The real trick with flat ironing is to do it in very small sections, especially on thick hair. I hope this helps!

Hey Abigail. I also have thick curly hair, and as a professional hair dresser these are my suggestions...
1. Use a high quality deep conditioner (once a week)
2. Dont wash your hair unless you need to (wash hair 1/2 times a week)
*use dry shampoo in between washes
3. When styling, dont cheat, make it your perfect style for the week. Do it once, and do it right.... use a quality smoothing product when wet, blow as best you can, use a small amount of oil based product when dry, flat iron in smal sections, or curl in big sections and then brush out (my favorite).
4.You want LONG layers, and you also probably want to get some wieght taken out of you hair.

Thank you so much for these tips! I will do my best when attempting them and hopefully I will get great relsults! I am fourteen though so I'm nervous about not washing my hair more often. I have never used a dry shampoo but I will try! Thanks again! xx

I LOVE living proof products! I have thickly wavy dry hair and living proof keeps it manageable without weighing it down or making it look oily. I went to my local sephora && got a sample, went back and purchased it. && it smells amazing! Def recommend.

My hair is thick, curly and POOFY! Seriously. Now I stopped using gel a while ago and switched for cream. Here is my tutorial on frizz free hair. Have a blessed day =D
