Ok my best friend she has like crazy curly and like afro fluffy and she cut it to just about a little over your shoulders and in the mornings she wets her brush and brushes her hair (or u could take a shower) and puts leave in conditioner and then a little shine stuff and it unfluffs and leaves your curls shiny!!! Hope this helped! O and she said it is easier with it short! :)

How odd is this xD I also am portuguese and have super curly hair! I like to use a gel and scrunch it as I blow dry it on low so they don't frizz and that have shape. I have really short hair and when I leave it curly, I have an afro.. So if leaving it isn't an option because it poofs up, I use la bella lots of curls styling gel and it's made in the us, alcohol free, no flaking or build up/ residue, you can use it on color treated hair, it won't tint or fade or change your hair color, and no animal testing. Hope this helped! :D

Alrighty so I colored my hair and layerd it. I love it and yes it is poofy when it is curly. I think keeping with a cream that will keep your hair healthy and stop breakage is a MUST. I tried all the gels in the world and that didn't do a thing for my hair. Check out how to get frizz free curly hair in my video. Have a blessed day =D
