I have very oily hair that is so difficult. I don't have a lot of hair but it is coarse and takes a long time to dry so I need to take a shower at night. No matter how I put it, my bottom layers always turns out greasy and piecey in the morning so I am forced to put it up.(Which causes major breakage) Due to this it is impossible to straighten my hair and very difficult to curl it. I have tried new shampoos that help with the oiliness and keep my scalp healthy and I use conditioner only on my ends. I also wash my pillow cases every week or 2. I have heard satin pillowcases are better and maybe putting it up it a hair cap? Please HELP! I am desperate!

When you wash it, are you making sure you get the shampoo into the oily patch? The back of your head does get very greasy, I have very thick, coarse hair, and i have to flip my hair upside-down to rinse it really well.

Jillian, i know this might sound weird but start taking vitamins, it will improve the condition of your hair. Also use better shampoo & conditioner, i recommend Matrix Biolage, especially their Conditioning Balm, its pricey but worth it. I been using it for years & I always get compliments on how healthy my hair looks.

Regarding the comment about rinsing. Two things that can really assist in making a difference-if you have a detachable shower head, but something I found even more effective when I was younger & my hair was very oily was to, after I completed my shower, shampoo, conditoner, etc was to rinse my hair one last time under the shower/bath faucet. It truly got way more of the product out of my hair-more water pressure. Also, definitely gentley towel dry you hair, soak the water up with the towel...As far as breakage, revisit what tools you are using ot hold up your hair. Make sure your rubber band do not have any metal. It sounds crazy, but sometimes washing your hair very often can cause excessive oiliness, if you have an off day-you know a day where you are off work/school, etc & perhaps don't have to go out & impress anyone, take that day off from washing your hair. Lastly, you can use a toner or astringent on a cotton ball & dab at your scalp, I'd definitely focus on the area around your hair line. Witch hazel is inexpensive & also really doesn't have a scent... PS. Use a clairfying shampoo 1x a week, no more, no less. Take note of your styling products-waxy & creamier ones are going to ampfly oil. Remember less is more!!1
