I dyed my hair brunette once it took like 3 times to get it to an auburn (I am a natural blonde) my hair to this day is still kind of damaged from it and it was 3 years ago. I don't know much about pastel and I don't know if this is a dumb question but do you have any routines now? Like leave-in-conditioner or shine spray? I bought from the aquage line of products and my hair is getting much better. It's expensive because it's salon quality but it works!

ShwartKopft L++ box dyes, get the one that lightens the highest and use that. It's better than using bleach in my opinion and what I use religiously when going blonde. :)

And about the hair breakage, buy a hair serum for frizz. Your hair isn't frizzy but I found hair serum worked wonders whilst making my hair feel better after bleaching also.

I turned from black to blonde. My tips were pretty damaged but I bought this salon conditioner. You leave it in for 10-15 mins and rinse it off. It works wonders! The brand is GKMBJ and is around $30 but it's like a treatment conditioner for dead hair. After I shower I also use Pantene frizz serum and spray my hair with colour locking repairing stuff. I mix a lot of products in my hair but it's taking a lot of the damage away.

You can't just use any thing off the shelf at your local walmart on your hair after you bleach it. Go to a salon and get shampoo that is sulfate free and very moisturizing. Also get a good everyday conditioner, a hair mask/deep conditioner, and a good leave in conditioner and/or oil. Personally, my favorite brand is "It's a 10."

I had this same problem with my hair when I had an Ombre (dark on top to light tips). I've tried dying it darker three times now, and the blonde still shows through and I have terrible breakage. One thing that has been helping me though is using organic products. I use a line of products called John Masters Organics. My hair shampoo and conditioner are 70%+ all organic materials and they feel wonderful on your hair once you use it for around a week (Plus it smells amazing!). Anyways, this has helped my split ends, and the conditioner can be used as a deep conditioner if you leave it in for 15 minutes, then rinse. This has helped with my dryness of my hair and some of the split ends, but there's still a lot because I use heat products on my hair a lot. Hope that helped, and good luck with your hair! :)

The more color, heat, and lightening product you use, the more damage you het.

I'm not sure how many people here are Australian so the brands an names may be different. Bit at the moment I use nak aromas shampoo and conditioner with argon oil. I use an Argon oil as a leave in. Once a week I use a mask treatment and I use tresseme heat protect. I spend to much on my hair for it to be this damaged. My hair is like a nest so not straithening is out of the question. Is professionally done in this picture.

Keep your products sulphate free, look for products with conditioning properties like olive oil, argon oil etc
Aussie 3 minute miracle is awesome
Also, manic panic has a pastelizer that lightens dye before using it. That's how I got my shade of purple

Jasmine, if you use John Masters Organics they don't have sulfates or parabins which are extremely bad for your hair also.
