I know everyone has a different pain threshold and some people just flaunt what they got but I'm so over shaving "down there" and I sometimes get a nasty razor burn if I'm not careful. I've tried a d.I.y wax but that was probably more painful doing it myself than getting it done professionaly!
I'm going to attempt a brazillian wax next time I go to the salon but I want to know what I can do before to prepare myself? What can I do or take to stop the pain? And if you have had a brazillian was it awkward for you?

It's not awkward, they're trained for it. I've never taken anything to help with the pain but I do have a high threshold. Make sure that you don't do it within a week before or after your period, and don't wear tight clothing because it can press and cause ingrowns.

Take an Advil before you go, they also have numbing creams you can use.

Whatever you do don't trim. It gives the wax less to stick to and gives more potential to tear skin easier.

I just got a Brazilian for the first time yesterday and I showered before, took tylenol because you don't want to take anything that is a blood thinner (it will make you bleed more) and I was so scared but it wasn't bad at all!! It's done in 5 mins! The lady told me to exfoliate 2/3 times a week also

If the waxing person is experienced and knows their techniques you don't need any pain killers, it is like waxing any other body part.

What can I use to exfoliate? And how long should I let the hairs grow out?

The hair needs to be about 1/4 inch so it will come out better and you can exfoliate with Bliss Hot Salt Scrub and its $36 at beautybar.com or you can make a scrub at home with a 1:2 ratio of sugar and coconut oil.

Like kailey said hair needs to be 1/4 if an inch.. That's about 6 weeks growth. My lady suggested trimming it a bit if it is longer then that because it will tug more the longer the hairs are. It Wasn't awkward for me because well I've had three kids, after going through that you don't really care who sees below. Anyway, my lady recomended Advil because it's an anti inflamatory, take it half hour prior and to not schedual it a week before or after your period because your more sensitive. Exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate!! It takes about 5-10 minutes and they have a cooling cream to put on after to help the burn. My skin is sensitive and that actually hurt more, so now she gives me a cool cloth to hold for a minute or two. Last thing, the more you wax the thinner the hair gets equalling the less pain it'll be. Good luck :)
