Hi, so I was wondering if you were going to dye your hair a pastel color, would you need to bleach it first? And if you do, how badly would that damage your hair?/: thank you!

You would have to bleach it first and any bleaching damages your hair...if you do it once it isn't so bad but if you have dark hair to begin with and need to go super light with multiple bleachings I'd say your hair would be pretty dried out!!

Yes you would have to bleach your hair until it hair is nearly white. yh it does damage your hair but that depends on how many times you bleach it hair.
if your worried about the damage you can use leave in conditioner at night.

To go lighter you have to bleach your hair or t won't work properly. Of course it does some damage as you are stripping your hair of its colour but if you condition it regularly and take care of it it's fine your choice really, could look pretty x

If you want a true pastel color your definatly going to have to bleach it. Depending on your base color it will take several bleaches. In order to get a light color your hair will have to be a very very very light pale yellow then you must tone it with a violet or blue based toner it will then be a light blonde or even a pale white silver. That light color will take the pastel color. Thats why when you bleach your hair it depends on how light your hair processed because the lighter the brighter and I've known a couple people with pastel hair. It seriously does damage your hair a lot depending on your hair type and base color. If your to scared bleach some of it and see how it goes.

Pastels are a pain In the butt. its so important that there is NO pigment left in the hair. bleach to a light blonde then tone to a white.

You have to bleach it all the way down to white. its best done by a professional-and there will still be tons of damage. I do pastel colors a lot, and I have a professional bleach my hair, and there is still some damage even though I take great care of my hair otherwise.
