I really really REALLY want to dye my hair a dark-ish teal color like Kalel (WonderlandWardrobe/cozplai/queenbeeuty on youtube) has now but I know my boyfriend will not like it/I'll probably get tired of it after a while. I was wondering how difficult it'd be to get it back to blonde? I'm just using demi-permanent dye from Hot Topic so nothing too strong haha :) Thank you for the advice!!!

If the color fades to a really light color I'm sure it shouldn't be hard to dye it back.

be careful i put pink on my blonde and its way darker then i planned and im having a very hard time getting it to fade but since ur using a demi im sure youll be ok and when ur ready to start ging back just start using stuff to lighten it like head and shoulders, honey masks, maybe even dish soap (use a good mask after words) that way when ur ready to color it back its as faded as muc as u can get it to that way itll be easier when u color it :-)

You could always bleach it then dye your natural blonde again (: hard in your hair but if youre careful it shouldn't damage it too badly.

Demi isnt that strong, it will only last 4-6 wks, if you would want to go back to blonde, youll have to enlighten(bleach) and then tone to the level of blonde you would want.. nothing hard but you have to be careful! happy coloring! :)

Hi pro hairdresser here... Even with bleach it is very hard to get intense pigments of blue/green/teal out of your hair. Frequently you can only cut it off or cover it up with darker colors. If you'd go back to blonde I wouldn't recommend it.

I had a nightmare of a time going from teal to blonde. I just had to dye my hair back to a red color I had, because it was such a disaster...

I would recommend "Beyond the Zone:Color Jamz" from Sally's. They are great for me, because they rinse out of my blonde hair very quickly and mix to create awesome colors and they smell good.. But they are terrible if you want lasting color. They are quite cheap too. These may be perfect for you if you're not sure if you want to commit to the color for a long time.

I had teal hair for about 3 and a half months and I was having trouble fading it back to blond but then I used the loreal color remover and I was back to my platinum color! It was quite a surprise to me because everyone was telling me it wouldnt work on a semi permanent dye but it worked great except on a little spot where I ran out of product.

No I've worked in hairsalons and also had to get plenty of colour corrects myself (usually upwards of $300) if you want to go back indeed after I'd choose a different colour.

hey guys. it all comes down to the porosity of your hair. the more porous the more your hair will absorb that color and the harder it will be to get out. My recommendation would be to use the color stripping shampoo from pravana. ive used it on boxed shoe polished black hair to lift the color and it works amazing without compromising the integrity of the hair.

Experiment with the Beyond the Zone colors first!! See if you want to commit to the color first. They are the best at adding a fun color without the hassle of damaging your hair. Although, They fade fairly fast.

People keep mentioning color strippers, but for unnatural colors they may be a disaster. Color strippers cannot remove vegetable stains, that is why it is hard to remove unnatural colors. The teal would not be a dye, but a stain, therefor requiring peroxide. Color strippers have nothing to do with the dye being demi permanent, semi permanent, or even permanent because they shrink the color molecules of dye only. Color Oops does NOT have peroxide in it and I believe the Ion brand color remover doesn't contain peroxide as well but I have never used it. The other color removers on the market contain peroxide so they may or may not be effective(they were not for my teal hair) but it sounds like the ones with bleach IN them worked for Crystal, but that almost never happens(from the amount of research and experimenting I have done personally).

Vivid dyes like that only come in semi or demi perm. None really stand the test of time. I'd say depending on the level of blonde your hair is now will dictate how vibrant the teal comes out. You can always add conditioner to soften the color and I believe it kind of waters down the strength too. It will need to fade out quite a bit before bleaching to make the results easiest, & less damaging, then follow with a toner. Teal is much easier than a red and it does have to do with the color chemistry vs. porosity of hair. The biggest thing I could emphasize about vibrant hair colors is they can be a bit of maintenance. You generally wont want to wash your hair as much as you normally do. The more water going through it the faster you have to touch it up. I have red which is notoriously a pain in the butt on upkeep. I had to prelighten my hair and now I only bleach out my new growth. It doesn't seem like you're totally sold on the color but want to try it out. I'd suggest (before damaging your hair) trying a wig/extensions, or doing conditioner with your mix. The last thing you want is having to cut length off your hair because of damage from bleaching it out if you don't have to. Definitely remember a toner or blonde color depending on shade when you return to blonde!
