So I read somewhere online that Hayley Williams doesn't bleach her hair because she uses 'high lift colour. Does anyone know what this is? :S

yes, high lift color is a play on words in the industry. its is still bleaching the hair but through a professional who is using a professional color line and in their line they have an added series of different hi lift blonde colors or some brand even have an added solution to make the blonde appear brighter. In some case you will find that hi lift is just permanent Pro color with the added solution but this treatment is for anyone who dosen't have all dark hair, ie black. with this application it takes a few applications to get to the blonde that you want.

High lift color is a series in any color line that is designed to lift to blonde from at least a level 6 (medium brown). It is not bleaching hair. You don't have to bleach and tone. It doesn't take a long time to achieve, it's not a long process. The draw back of using high lifts is that sometimes they lift quite brassy so hairdressers opt to use bleach instead.

There are drugstore high lift dyes that works pretty well. You wont be getting a bleached blonde color but it def helps lighten darker hair to be lighter im guessing due to the amt of peroxide? But nonetheless i have dark brown hair and used the loreal preference highlight dye (check out lifeasabionerd's youtube channel she demonstrates dyeing her hair!) and my personal hair did get 3-4 shades lighter wo bleaching

All permanent hair color has bleach in it to lighten then deposit a hilift tint is used to not break/damage your hair as much as bleach and it works best on virgin hair there's a great one at Sally's I used when I was blonde

Most permanent colors use AMMONIA to lift hair color, NOT BLEACH.

Ammonia doesn't lift hair color. The ammonia opens the hair cuticle and acts as a catalyst. Hydrogen peroxide lightens your hair.
