Example - for Sonya's outfit you could just buy a similar colour/style shirt (or cut one to look similar) then chuck on cargo pants and a belt for a gun strap over your chest.
Another example - for Reptiles outfit (depending on which game you choose) you can just drape black fabric around yourself.
Or for Kitana/Scorpion/ etc. you can make one like I did - remember it doesn't have to be expensive. My costume cost me $35 for the materials. The teeth cost $3 for a big packet of nails off eBay and the face paint on the eyelids (which I use for all my eyelid "eyes" and my bruising) was in a palette for $2 from a superstore.

Omg that's so cool!! I don't have any costumes to use to dress up in unfortunately :( if I could I would definitely do a female version of Sub-Zero. He's my favorite character :) I would do a blue and black smokey eye makeup and use the costume you would for Kitana/Scorpion, but make it blue and black :)

Just go to kmart and superstores to buy cheap clothes and accessories :) thats what I did for my Misty cosplay (unfortunately I have no photos of it anymore - wah)
Yellow singlet - $5
Red suspenders - $3
Blue shorts - I already had them.
Red immitation vans - $8
Orange wig - $5
Togapi figurine - $10 off eBay

Oh no, it's not that I don't have stuff, most of its in storage. I got most of the stuff for my Umbreon cosplay a Walmart or just made it, but I've got no extra money to blow a Walmart right now so I'm going to have to see what my closet blesses me with.
