It looks quite deep. If it was me I'd bathe it in salty water and put tea tree oil/cream directly on it. That is my little routine whenever I get a cat scratch or a piercing gets infected. If it keeps weeping or starts oozing anything at all then get straight to the doctors.

Just wanted to pop back in and update you guys. I put some maracuja oil on it last night (don't know why I didn't think of that right away...silly me.) and its MUCH, much better today. The redness is gone and it's no longer puffy. I'm keeping an eye on it still but I'm not concerned like I was before. Thank you again for your advice and input. I think it was just a bug bite that somehow got very irritated. I know this is not a place to get specific medical advice, I just wanted some second opinions before rushing off to a doctor and then being told it's just a mosquito bite lol. Thank you for your help guys!

Hi I'm a cosmetologist! Part of my education covers skin infections- and as I've personally had a staff infection before I can tell you that you need to have it seen by a doctor. Immediately. Staff infections will not go away on their own, they will spread, and if the infection gets into your blood stream it will spread the infection through out your body and you will become septic. You might be right, it might just be a bug bite, but its much much better to be safe than sorry. If your boyfriend has touched the affected area with out washing his hands after then he might need to keep an eye out but generally unless you ripped open the infected area and smeared it on an area of broken skin on his body he should be ok.

Peroxide only kills certain levels of bacteria- which usually only include the bacteria that is naturally in our bodies to fight infections and leaves the infection causing germs to do as they will. This is a fairly new discovery, only came out this year I believe so please share that ladies! I see the peroxide posted as an answer quite a bit and I'd hate for anyone to have a bad outcome from just because they hadn't heard!

I had something that looked just like that on my ring finger! Except mine hurt tons and it grew so big it literally pushed my pinky out so far I couldn't move it. the doctor told me it was an infected wart, which I think yours is. All she had to do was pop it with a small needle and clean it out with a q tip, then I was on anti biotics for a week. I'd take it to the doctor to be sure though. sorry boo :( xx

I don't know but one thing I know I would do is go to a doc or something(in my case go to my mum she used to be a nurse But she is a midwife now!)
