I would go to a dr just to find out for sure what it is but I had a place like that on my leg where a spider bit me.

It's on the top of my foot. I -think- it's a bug bite of some kind, most likely mosquito or flea. But honestly I'm not sure. It started out as a small, flat irritation like a mosquito bite and has just gotten bigger and redder as the days have gone by. I've cleaned it with soap and water though so it shouldn't really be infected. That's why I'm kind of at a loss here.

It's not quite as red in real life as it is in the picture, it's more like a pinkish halo

Dumb question but you haven't been wearing flipflops over it, where it could be rubbing it?

Honey I don't think that's a mosquito or a flea I have 3 dogs and In the summer I get attacked by both Mosquitos and fleas because I'm always outside with the dogs It might be a spider bite you should get that looked at mine swelled up so bad and I still have a scar from it.

That looks like staff or a bacterial infection. if it's staff you definitely don't want to be using neosporin. don't soak it either. it needs to stay clean and it needs to breathe. I'd go to the Dr. if it gets any worse.

No, it hasn't been rubbed by flip flops, they don't touch it at all. The reason I'm still thinking it could be a bug bite is because any time I get a bug bite it does get really red and usually I have a scar after. I still have all kinds of scars from bug bites so it isn't unusual for me to have a really bad bite. This one is definitely the worse though.
But also it hasn't opened or drained. It's pretty dry.

That looks like a staff infection. My mom had one and it started out exactly like you described it. It started throbbing after about a week. But it looked exactly like that. You should go to the doctor.

I agree with Jessica it could be a staff infection. That's how my father-in-laws started out also.

Well crap. If its staff would anyone else have it around me as well? I live with my boyfriend and we sleep in the same bed. Would be have it too? He would have definitely been exposed to it but he doesn't have anything like this on him.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on it and if it doesn't show any signs of improvement in the next couple of days or gets worse I'll be going to a doctor. Thanks for all the input, ladies! :) hopefully it's just being stubborn and starts to heal on it's own. We'll see. Thanks again.

If it is a staph infection, your doctor will give you an antibiotic ointment. :) No big deal. It happens. Staphillococcus aureus, the bacteria that causes staph infections is literally everywhere and from time to time likes to take advantage of little nicks and scrapes on our skin. Your boyfriend's not going to catch it from you. It'll clear up in a few days with the prescription!

For now clean it with water, apply ice to reduce redness. also apply polysporin extra strength to it, I swear by this stuff it heals anything. if it doesn't get any better within 5 days go to a doctor. it might be a spider bite which many people have weird reactions to

That looks similar to the infection I got in my knee after a spider bit me while I was working in my coach's yard for a fundraiser. I went to the doctor and she gave me antibiotics and told me to put a hot, wet towel over the bite.

I honestly don't think this is the place to ask, it would be safer to just go to the doctor because you're getting all kinds of answers here! How would you know what to follow? Just go to a doctor.

Agree ^.. AND please don't put peroxide if the hole is deep.. it burns your cells and it's not going to heal..
