you can try to use an oil free primer or a matte primer

There are makeup setting sprays (skindinavia has good ones) and some are specifically for mattifying your face.

I have the same problem no matter what i use, and one of the consultants at sephora recommended murads oil control mattifier (its basically a moisturizer) and I have gotten pretty good results. Combined with the other things like my primers, setting sprays, and finishing powder, I wind up looking more dewy than oily.

The Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder is fantastic. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a foundation primer as they work well the first few times but I have found they don't work well when used consistently. This is why I usually just pick up samples at Sephora.

Matte FX by Cover FX works under and over all foundation types to keep you dry and matte throughout the day. Even is you use it a lot all day you never look cakey because it is translucent.

1: Really good primer.
2: Really good setting powder.
3: And with good blotting sheets to boot.

Well i have found that a little bit of milk of magnesia helps to keep the oil at bay,
Take a cotton ball and shake your milk of magnesia until the cap is coated. take the lid off and put some out of the cap on the cotton ball onto your face. It will dry and look crusty but don't wipe it off ... try to go in more on the places you seem to get more oily then put your foundation on.. For me it stays oil and shine free throughout the work day... I would love if anyone could tell me if it works for you

I've learned that usually it starts with whatever skin care you're using before you put on makeup. I would say take a look at your skin care routine and see if it suits your skin needs then maybe a good skin primer would help reduce oilyness... but usually foundations that has oil free are good. if you wear liquid or cream make sure to set it with a translucent powder or any kind of powder preference.

If I'm not using primer I use blotting paper after I apply my moisturizer and then I apply my foundation where I blot just one more time to pick up any residual oil that comes up. Then I apply my setting powder. This also helps if you notice your foundation is oxidizing on you as well.

Regardless what skintype anyone has, I've found that the best thing to use before makeup is an oil-free moisturiser for DRY skin. A lot of excess oil is caused because your skin is trying to replenish the moisture that it lacks.

Because you have oily skin, I doubt you can skip on the primer or setting powder. But remember: heavy, thick powder mixing in with your facial oils can end up looking really bad, so try something that's finely milled like a loose powder or a mineral one to avoid this.

And as a few of the girls above have said, a setting spray is your best friend if you STILL have problem with oils. Urban Decay Deslick is wonderful for mattifying (and can double up as a primer!) so try it out in store to see for yourself. :)
