You would look gorg in a vibrant red. I thought a deep fall red but you have like really pretty brunette hair and it wouldn't mesh. The vibrant red would bring out your complexion. I would try the body shop lip stick or revlon. I would even test Mac lipstick to get an idea of shades.

Any color would look great on you! (: depending on your comfort with lipstick, probably start working with nudes, &pink. try with inexpensive makeup brands maybe wet n wild, NYC, jordana. etc. so you can play with them and not waste to much money. or you can go to ulta Mac or sephora and swatch there shades. goodluck (:

Since you're pale, I think a bright red might be too stark and could look vampire-y, imo. You should try a dark maroon, plums, soft peachy-pinks and berry :) They'll flatter your skin tone by working with its cooler tone instead of clashing. I think people with pale skin can pull off a mauvey-plum so well :)

Oh and for applying, I like to have a lipliner underneath for a cleaner, longer lasting lip. It's optional but I recommend it. Some people use a lip brush to apply lipstick but I go right off the tube, using a gentle smear, dotting to blend, and a pucker of the lips :)
Matte lipsticks are drier so don't be smearing those, use many gentle strokes, allow it to tug your lips so you aren't applying too much excess.

Color wise I think a nice cool tone red would look pretty on you. Something like MAC Ruby Woo, MAC Lush Life (which is kinda burgundy), and NYX Alabama and Heista. For more plum colors try Milani Sangria or Urban Decay Venom or Shame.
Now when applying lipstick always apply a lip primer first. This can be a Chapstick, lip balm (I use Smiths Minted Rose lip balm, $6 at Sephora), or a lip primer (MAC Prep + Prime). You want to make sure your lips are nicely exfoliated first! But other then that, I apply the primer before I start the rest of my makeup so it has time to set. Priming your lips will help application, moisturize (depending on what you use), and keep your lips from staining from the lipstick!
Next is lip liner! It's not necessary but it can help with longevity, color, and keep your lipstick from feathering out. For example, UD lip liners + UD lipstick = I can eat a burger and not have to reapply my lipstick after. There are many different ways to apply lip liner, and different ways can give you different effects, like making your lips look fuller.
When it comes to lipstick, I honestly just run it across my lips. The primer makes matte lipsticks sooooo much easier to work with as they no longer tug as much. But others just glide on. Now you many need a q-tip to clean up your edges, but other then that you should be good!
Oh, another tip for longer lasting lipstick is applying setting powder to your lips after you first apply your lipstick. Then reapplying your lipstick again.

Thanks for all the comments guys! They're really helpful and I plan on trying them soon. I'll probably just end up going to the Ulta at my nearby mall. I'll keep in mind what all of you said!! Thank you so much.
