Oil is a lubricant but it helps seal the hair follicle cells from bacteria and harsh toxins. it can indeed act as a moisturizer by locking in moisture. this article is scientifically incorrect.

Its not a hydrant but more so a moisture sealant. so yes not a direct moisturizer, but a retainer. good article catch Shelby.
