I double up- I use Smashbox Photoready in green to cancel out my redness, then Tarte Poreless to get a solid base. I personally love both, but I absolutely can't live without my Smashbox. Worth the price.

I've used silicone based primers and I wasn't a fan. isn't smashbox silicone based? I feel like it made my face slick. I like the mac because it absorbs into my skin quickly and feels like there's nothing there. but it doesn't have as much integrity as I wish. my foundation always wears off my cheeks first. bummer.
