I want to do it at home myself, but don't want to shave my legs. what is the best alternative to shaving that won't cost a fortune?

I'd use a hair removal cream epilating hurts, and so does waxing.

I agree, hair removal cream is non painful an the hairs grow back lighter and less coarse than with shaving or epilating and you can get a pack of removal cream witch lasts two 'shaves' for around £2 :) hope this helps :)

Invest in an epilator. It will save you so much money in the future

How long do hairs stay away for if you use an epilator?

For legs, I suggest the cream.

It lasts about a week without any signs of hair

I've used an epilator, it lasted a few days. But my hair grows really fast. :(

What about waxing? that lasts a while doesn't it?

Waxing hurts and epilator produces hair growth inside your body. It might sound stupid but it's true. I would invest in a hair removal cream.

Okay so all hair removal has different effects and side effects on everyone,
I'm a beautician and personally I would recommend waxing, it last generally 3-4 weeks, and each time you wax the hair grows back less thick, and less hairs
Epilators cause a lot of ingrown hairs, and breaking of hairs if not used properly so then it will only last like a week, can also be very painful.
Hair removal cream can be good although, a lot of people react to it, it doesn't remove all hair and over time it effects your body because of the chemicals therefore you can age quicker

Thanks alana that's a great help, is it just as good to buy waxing strips instead of going to a salon?

Waxing is good but I used to have my legs sugared where you use a different paste made of sugar and water (I think). You can't do sugaring yourself like waxing but sugaring is better for your skin and more gentle on your skin. :-)

Waxing is better a bit painful though.

This is probably a stupid question but what's sugaring??

Thanks Ailenne, I'd completely forgotten to look on the Karmin website - my daughter asked me to find one for her.
