So set out to buy Cetaphil to treat some out-of-nowherere bumpy and awful forehead acne after some you awesome beautylishers recommended it. Sadly, my Ulta was out of stock and out of impatience I went with this AcneFree stuff. The swelling long my acne has definitely decreased after 3 days of using it twice a day, but now my fave feels super dry and sometimes itchy. Is this normal when using these treatments? Help :(

Unless we know the ingredients, we can't be sure. However, the acne medication in the AcneFree may be really strong so it could be drying out your face, especially if your face is already of the dry type. I'd try using a heavy moisturizer or a night cream to help put the moisture back in your face, or else you could try changing your routine up with something gentler and less harsh for your skin. Neutrogena has a really good line for acne products and I know Clean and Clear does too.

It comes with a cleanser, a toner, and a lotion. Here are the pictures of the ingredients!

Dorothea I used to use a Clean and Clear scrub but it stopped working for me :(
Thank you ladies for taking the time to answer my post!

It just seems like a lot of drying stuff between the alcohol and peroxide etcetera. I'd sub out the repairing lotion or well double up on the lotion that way you can put the moisture back in your face.

Yes this is normal I've used this stuff and it has benzoyl peroxide and a bunch of stuff. I'd just get a good moisturizing cream like from cerave and it should help.

Maybe you can use it once a day or once every few days and gradually increase until your skin gets used to twice a day, that's what my derm told me to do

Ouch! That toner has SD Alcohol which will actually cause adverse effects. SD Alcohol is a solvent alcohol, which will unfortunately dry out your skin and trigger more oil production which can create more acne. Focus on a hydrating toner instead. Remember that if you dry out spots you'll create the perfect platform for scarring.. I would skip out on the toner completely. You can opt for witch hazel instead. Is the toner causing a burning or stinging sensation when you use it? That's a sign of irritation as well which is your skins way of saying please stop. Irritating products break down the skins repair process and weakens the skins surface. It can also trigger nerve endings in the pore that trigger an increase in hormones that increase oil production. When it comes to acne, it's very important to avoid fragrance (synthetic or natural) and solvent alcohols. Focus on fatty alcohols which can help repair the skins barrier instead.

Yes Kitty! In certain spots it is causing a stinging feeling. Where can I get that Kitty? Does it work well in treating acne? I don't know why all of a sudden I started breaking out /:

You can purchase it at any health store (Vitamin shoppe, GNC, whole foods) or online. I purchase mine through Amazon. It'll help with inflammation and redness, the other products in that kit already treat acne so you don't need the toner to.

Mario Badescu has a cucumber toner ehich is good for acne prone skin. Also the Mario Badescu's Seaweed Night Cream would be good too since its for oily and acne prone.skin.
