So on my nose usually it feels oily and I think it is but when I try and put makeup, even foundation, on my skin gets really flaky and dry looking, I wash my face daily and I exfoliate about 2 times a week, anything I can add/take away from my routine to stop this?

Mine is the exact same way. I also get oily on my cheek area around my nose. I think we suffer from texture problems in that area. My whole t-zone area it's oiler than the rest of my face, but when I put makeup on, it looks cracky and weird

I've noticed that the best thing to do is to use a good moisturizer and to make sure your skin is always hydrated before you put on makeup. You can always use oil controlling foundation, but I like to use a smoothing/hydrating primer to combat the texture

I'm not sure if this is the case in your personal dilemma, but I used to have the same problem, and my dermatologist told me the skin on my nose, which gets pretty oily, was not peeling because of dryness, but instead was producing a sort of dandruff, like an oily scalp would. I'm not sure what the medical name for this issue is, but it definitely could be the culprit. I noticed a huge improvement in my nose flakiness after cutting a harsh astringent out of my routine and switching to Cerave moisturizing lotion. Now it doesn't peel, but it's still oily, which unfortunately I've yet to find a solution to.

People with oily skin can often be dehydrated which is what you are experiencing. There is an excess of oil, a lack of water/moisture in the skin, and there is a build up of dead skin cells causing it to seem dry. I suggest using a chemical exfoliater daily like cliniques clarifying lotions to get rid of the dead skin, and use an oil free moisturizer daily.
