I just watched Shaaanxo's first impression review of the Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Water Foundation and I'm really curious about it.

I understand it's a hydrating foundation so does that mean it's only good/better for dry or dehydrated skin? Has anyone with oily skin tried out this foundation yet?

I will be picking up a sample once I'm back from vacation but I'm just curious to know what everyone thinks about it, especially if you have oily skin.

I really want to try it but have yet to buy it. I have combination skin so I'm excited to see how it wears.

I'd assume it would be catered more towards dry skin people.

I'm actually picking up a sample today. I'll try it out tomorrow and tell you what I think.

I tried it and I'm oily/normal as well. It separated around my chin :( Then again I used a beauty blender, not a brush. I saw Shaaanxo's video too and I think it looked way better on her. I guess it just depends on your skin type. I've heard of some oily skin girls loving it.

Ok so my skin has dried out considerably since I moved to colorado but I still want to try and help. lbs
here's my first impression
I'm super disappointed about the intro shades. I understand they are planning to release many more but fair to light girls shouldn't be the only ones able to test it out first...moving on from that common blunder

the foundation is super lightweight. it's very watery in consistency. which worried me.
it went on smoothly though and didn't cling to dry patches. it covered pretty well with one layer. I put on one half with a real techniques brush and one half with a beauty blender and the beauty blender side was a bit more sheer as expected but it applied well with both. I'd call it medium coverage. it did really good with my redness and evening everything out in general. my hyperpigmentation was reduced but not covered completely. most of my blemishes we're covered but a few pinprick scabs still shows through.
throughi wouldn't say it's a natural look but it's not a mask either. it's on the natural looking side though. it takes a little while to dry down and it looked dewy to semi matte at first but from about a half hour on I'd call it a demi matte or a satin finish. I usually don't set my makeup with a powder and I skipped the all nighter spray for the purpose of testing it. I've had it on for 7 hours now and I'm going to try it with different products tomorrow but I don't think I'd recommend it for oily skin and here's why.
so my blush and contour and highlight are good. coverage has diminished throughout the day but not completely. but it has separated on my nose and forehead where my skin gets more oily. and it transfers. if I tap my finger on my chin, which is more dry, it comes right off. I'll try to set half my face with a powder tomorrow and see if that makes a difference but if it's transferring on the dry parts of my skin that's not a good sign.
overall I'm not impressed but like I said I'll give it a second chance to be fair.
