So I'm currently a cosmetology student and I've decided that once I'm graduated I want to do more makeup than hair. I'm debating on moving out of state right after since I know my state doesn't have a high demand of MUAs. Or should I get the experience here first and then move?Any tips on getting my foot in? Also where are the best places an MUA can move/good places to work and just any other advice you can give me will help a TON! And yes I understand it's hard work and dedication which is exactly why I chose this industry.
Thank you so much ladies!❤️

There actually was a recent thread answering the majority of your questions (http://www.beautylish.com/t/ixsmnp/becomming-a-makeup-artist). Kathryn & Jacqueline both went into detail about what to expect and the challenges you might face getting started. Hope that helps. :)

Sorry for the super slow response! I just saw that you had replied. :(
Have you thought about trying to get on with Mac or Sephora when you get to Chicago? They won't teach you everything but it's a good starting point and will get you used to working on different skin tones/types. Once you get comfortable you could continue on to a school or start freelancing on your own. Also, maybe search for MUA Facebook groups in that area and see if somebody will let you assist them. It's always hard to get started outside of major cities (New York, Vegas, Los Angeles...and so on) so just keep looking around and I'm sure you will find something. :)
