It's Sunday Funday at work this Sunday (duh, lol) and the theme is fairies. I want to participate but I'm kind of stumped on what to do besides glowy/highlighted skin.

Any ideas for fairy inspired makeup would be greatly appreciated!

Keep in mind I have normal to oily skin and I don't wear winged liner. Thank you!

I'm thinking a whimsical eye look incorporating purples and blues maybe with some glitter or shimmer. Maybe using an iridescent eyeshadow as your face highlight instead of a normal one would tie the look together :)

So I love how these looks added color to cheeks and forehead. I feel like it really pulls together the fairy look as opposed to "look at me with wings and cute make up" hahaha
I like the idea of whiting out eyebrows and then coloring them with something that matches your colors. Also, the color on forehead and coming down nose is lovely. I feel like these looks are versatile and very doable. They also don't require a winged eyeliner. Girl, I can't do those for the life of me. The idea of using eyeshadow to sort of create that effect sounds more appealing.

I know you like purple..that last one would look lovely down in purple and use some inspiration from other photos to tweak it to your taste.

If you want to do more sultry dark this one is pretty cool. Doing the white dots adds a lot to it but seems like a novice could make it work. And those dark lips. How cool with purple or blue!

Alexis, I feel like the 2nd and 3rd pics Danielle posted would look amazing in you, especially in purple.

This is so simple but so pretty. Just add a "bit" more highlight and by "bit" I mean a lot basically. 😂 Please show the finished look.

I think highlighted skin, as far as mythical creatures, is more mermaid-like since they are half fish they tend to have that more wet-look that highlighters can give since the shimmer is more finely milled.

as for fairies? I think you should go full-on glitter like fairy dust. I noticed a lot of green examples which reminds me of Tinkerbell but if you don't have wings I feel you could easily be confused for a forest nymph I think blues, purples and pinks are more fairy-like IMO.
I'd do some glitter nails, gloss or lipstick with glitter and maybe gluing on some rhinestones like this girl did. I don't think half your face has to be a completely different color since fairies were just tiny people with butterfly-like wings.
I think adding butterflies to the outfit would be cute too.

Thanks Aurora but I really don't like glitter at all. I actually found some inspiration from a Shaanxo tutorial (:
