Head and shoulders is the best dandruff shampoo.

Whoa, that will wreck hair..lol Loads of drying alcohol in there, which for someone with color treated hair can be issue..especially reds and black shades.

There's a tea tree oil scalp treatment by Paul Mitchell and a dupe at Sally in their generic line. Green Tea is anti fungal and anti bacterial. You can boil a few bags and lt cool, then pour over scalp after washing hair. Wrap it in a towel and let sit about 30 minutes..and then rinse and condition as normal..and avoiding the scalp.

(You just apply the tea tree in the shower I n your scalp and let sit while you wash, etc.) This is not a hair treatment. :)

Rozberry, I have been doing that to my hair for about 10 years. I dye my hair frequently and have extremely healthy and long hair. I have been told by MANY different professional hairdressers that this technique will work without damaging hair. Different people have different opinions, and different things work for different people. I was just giving my advice and sharing what works for me.

No need to take the defense, Shelby. I felt it was necessary to note the high alcohol content and impact it can have on certain hair colors. I'm looking at this from a cumulative angle.

Perhaps for you it is not an issue and for that I'm glad, but from a skin care perspective, that alcohol level is incredibly drying. Dry scalp can be terribly painful and itchy for certain individuals. Now that we've shared our suggestions, it's best to respectfully disagree.

I definitely respect your opinion, however, I felt you were being rude. That's why I said something.

Please go to your derm. You most probably need a medicated shampoo. Also eliminate sulfates from your hair routine.

I'm many things, but rude is certainly not one of them. I did not insult, but instead counterpoint from an ingredient perspective. In any event, I've shared my view and will excuse myself.

Appi, best of luck with your scalp. Nathalie is on point with getting help from a Derm. Always a great idea.

I use head and shoulders and it works really well. I've been using it for about two years and my scalp isn't flakey any more.

I'm with rozberry on this one, listeria and Seabreeze will wreck your hair. From my professional opinion I can say that it will probably just dry the scalp out even more. same as Selsen blue and head and shoulders.
Appi, You need to make sure that what you have is really dandruff and not just very dry scalp. true dandruff will be somewhat yellow in color, chunky and in patches. it can also be greasy. if you just have flakes then you most likely have dry scalp. dandruff shampoo will dry it out even more. it can be a reaction to a product or shampoo also. a lot of times if your hair and scalp are overly dry then it can produce too much oil.

Listerine not listeria. if you treat your hair for dandruff and it is just dry scalp you will be making the situation worse.

Hello all this is unfortunate that it came down to this reaction but I ask that we all try and be respectful to all here on Beautylish so that things like this does not discourage many from making and commenting on thread's. We don't all have to agree but we can certainly be respectful so let's not resort to name calling please and I'm sure Appi appreciates all help she can get. :)

Kelly what do you think of the Seabreeze face&scalp product sold at sally beauty supply?

If it is dry scalp I have had great luck with Clear Scalp and Hair shampoo. I scrub shampoo only on my roots very well with pads of fingers, especially where I get dry (front of head for me).. Rinse super well..Use only a nickel size of their conditioner and rub it into scalp well (basically full blown massage) then use same amount on length of hair. I have hair all the way down my back and it's perfect amount for me so you could use less or more on length. You won't have that insanely smooth slick feeling you get get some conditioners but I have dry hair and once it's semi dry it brushes out easily. Unlike when I use other things. You are better off taking care of your scalp and getting some moisture on it. If you get oily easily remember you produce less if your scalp is moisturized...

It isn't a special dandruff shampoo or anything like that. Just supposedly good on scalp..it worked for me!
