What's so amazing about a beauty blender? I haven't tried one cause they are a bit pricy for a sponge so what makes it worth it.

I don't know really. I've used real techniques sponge as well and it works just fine.

I bought one for 1,49€ well and it is awesome! It makes your make up look so flawless!:)

If you're not going to buy a real one then go with real techniques sponge, it's orange and you can get them from Ulta. I think all the hype about the beauty blender is because it soaks up a lot of product so that you don't end up looking like you put on too much makeup because the sponge absorbs the excess foundation.

I've always wanted to buy one but can't get myself to spend that money on a sponge, in addition I feel like it gets mixed reviews. I use the real techniqued sponge and love it.

I got the micro ones for Christmas and honestly I don't find them any different from the cheap 3$ quo one I was using before. I still use them but mostly because it's a lot of money that I don't want wasted rather than the finish they give lol. But I also prefer the look a brush gives rather than sponges.

I tried a 3 pack from Walmart for really cheap and the texture is the same as a bb! Though I haven't tried it myself I don't feel the need to because I can get 3 for less than the price of one and the texture (before wetting) is the same!

They're so important and different than all of the dupes!! They don't eat most of your product like the others (which I've used). They're also a lot softer and apply makeup SOO much smoother and more evenly. Since you use them damp they add a little water to your foundation giving you a more dewy look as well. A Beauty Blender is faster than a brush and doesn't leave any brush strokes. And they're easier to clean than a brush. I highly suggest using a Beauty Blender rather than a knock off. However, if you just can't bring yourself to spend $20 on a sponge, buy the Real Techniques one from Ulta. It's going to eat a bit more product than a Beauty Blender would, but it's the closest you can get quality wise.

Most of the knock offs get hard once they're saturated with water and it's like beating yourself in the face with a rock compared to a beauty blender. I was skeptical before I bought one too, but they really do make a difference and when you're spending $30-50 on foundation, you don't want a sponge to be wasting it.

I know people have different opinions on whether or not it's worth it when there are products 'similar' like the real techniques one but I personally hated the RT one & love my beauty blenders. I love the look it gives me with foundations & concealers I continue to repurchase it. I have the RT one and really wanted to love it, I tried it for about a week & never went back to using it.

Personally the BB is SOOO different that dupes don't compare for me. I love my RT sponge yes, but it's not the same as my BB. My beauty blender is still dense (in a good way) when it expands where as my RT sponge is so fluffy that I feel it soaks up more product. I use my RT sponge for concealer and my beauty blender for foundation and cream contour blending. definitely worth the price to me

I've tried an actual beauty blender and don't see the hype. The whole "it doesn't soak up foundation" is not accurate. I do find that it does a bit like any other sponge regardless of if its damp.

It's faster, sure, but it does sheers out the coverage which is why it makes the makeup feel "lighter"

Brushes with synthetic fibers absorb less than both natural bristled brushes as well as any sponges.
It has to do with the natural hairs and sponges are just absorbent, simply.

The price, I don't think it's worth it. It's a sponge. It has to be replaced every few months. Some people have to replace it every three months.
That's about $80 a year on an applicator when a good stippling brush or buffing brush will cost anywhere from $7 to like $50 but brushes will last you YEARS

I have two beauty blenders. The original pink one and the black one, they're really bouncy and honestly I know of these wedge sponges that have the exact texture the only difference is they're wedge shaped.
I also tried this sort of drugstore one that Wayne Goss suggested as a dupe and it is pretty much the same. It's the
Barely Cosmetics Prep, Blot blend sponge

Completely agree with Jamie! I've tried a several $4/5 dupes and the real techniques sponges and they do not compare to the original BB! Had 3 for a while and just got 2 new ones! They are so soft compared to the other dupes and makes foundation look flawless!

I agree that the dupes really don't compare to the Beauty Blender. I've tried the Real Techniques one that everybody raves about, and I absolutely hated it. In my opinion, there is nothing better than the BB. I use it everyday for foundation and concealer, and I probably use my for longer than recommended before I repurchase (whoops) but you do get a lot of use out of it! I know it's a hefty price tag, but it is good for a long time before you have to repurchase. So it's not like something that's $20 and you'll use for a week, it should last fairly long for you.

I’m a total makeup sponge hoarder/snob… I’ve probably used every dupe out there for the beautyblender and have used the actual beautyblenders for quite a long time at this point. Are they worth the money? Honestly… it really just comes down to your personal preference and budget. There is nothing you can do with a beauty blender that you can't do with any other disposable latex free sponge.

But if you’re wanting a comparison between the RT and the BeautyBlender…. In my opinion, in terms of softness the Real Techniques sponge is the closest dupe out there but obviously the shape is a lot different. I’m not a fan of the shape myself. I feel like it can leave unblended spots on the face if you aren’t careful. The real techniques sponge also doesn’t have as much bounce to it as the beauty blender does. The Real Techniques will however last you a bit longer than the BeautyBlenders. I usually get around 3 months of daily use out of my beautyblender before it needs to be tossed and around 6 months out of the real techniques sponge. As for the beautyblender not absorbing foundation. I honestly believe that’s a myth with ALL sponges. It’s a sponge. It’s going to absorb product no matter who makes it, whose using it, if it’s wet, dry or somewhere in between.

Basically, the Beautyblender is a luxury but not a necessity. I always stick with my black (And yes, there is also a difference between the beauty blenders themselves lol) beauty blenders despite the cost because I like the ease of use but if they were discontinued tomorrow the RT would work just fine.

I am definitely with Aurora on this one! The BB does soak up product which leads to sheer coverage.
