Prom is next weekend, and I wasn't able to get an appointment for my makeup. I'm planning on doing it myself, but I don't have a foundation to use. I need something that has medium-high coverage and lasts a long time with no flashback. I also would rather not spend a ton because I'm probably only going to wear it for that night. Thanks!

For dryness I don't recommend any drugstore foundation! I have the worst dry skin and nothing cuts it. I highly recommend going to Sephora or a department store and getting a few samples to try out that way you don't have to buy; or you might like it enough to buy it. I recommend Makeup Forever HD or Makeup Forever Face and Body. Clinique Super Moisture or Even Better, Laura Mercier Silk Creme, and Dior (I'll try to find the name) are also nice for dryness.
Make sure to prep your skin first to ensure it applies nice and so it last. You want a great canvas to work with. I recommend CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (very gentle basic cleanser that doesn't dry me out) and the Moisturizing Lotion. As for primers I highly recommend L'Oreal Magic Lumi (gives a very glowy finish under foundation), Smashbox Primer Water, Smashbox Primer Oil, and Hourglass (a travel size at Sephora is about $16).
For setting powder (if you need it) I recommend Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder and L'Oreal True Match (if you lightly dust just to make sure your eye makeup sets and so your foundation last).
I highly recommend doing a couple of test first and take pictures in different lighting beforehand! That way you don't have a disaster!

If you're only wearing it for one night, you could ask for samples in beauty stores? that way you could get a cheap/free high end foundation

Apply your foundation with a makeup sponge as well like the Real Techniques one or the beautyblender. This will help so you don't cake up too much foundation on your dry areas. Also only apply powder where you need it! I personally only do under my eyes to set my concealer. If you do it anywhere else you risk your dry patches showing. Lisa is so right though.

I think it depends how dry your skin is, I mean some people head "dry skin" and automatically assume it's quite dry when all you really need is a good moisturizer (like cerave)
With that, I think a pretty good option is the L'orèal true match super Blendable liquid foundation or their compact (cream) makeup.
Their "compact makeup" I believe is supposed to be a cream-to-powder but I've used it recently to compare to the MAC studio tech and it doesn't really dry down to a powder finish much, if at all (only used it once so far)
It has no SPF and no noticeable flashback even with direct flash from a phone.
The only downside is
that it's hard to find a match even though the top of the compact is clear. It looks about 2-3 shades darker on the pan than how it applies.
With the True Match super Blendable liquid foundation, it works good and dries down to a satin finish but it does have SPF 17 with titanium dioxide but if you're having a photographer take a pic they'll most likely be using bounced flash so you won't have an issue but if you want to be extra sure you don't get flashback then use a light dusting of a tinted powder over

From drugstore I'll recommend color stay for dry skin if you really want it to last all night.
You can also get free samples from sephora
