No matter what foundation I try, weather it be dewy or a matte formula I can't seem to stop my face from looking cakey when I apply it. I've even tried applying no powder to see if that would help. I also use a beauty blender to apply my foundation and powder, and it still turns out cakey! Any suggestions?

You may be applying too much foundation. I use to have that problem. I think you should only use about a quarter size pump of foundation maybe even less. Or maybe try using a foundation with less coverage then using a concealer to cover up any blemishes. You can also try mixing your moisturizer with your foundation to create a tinted moisturizer, it will have less coverage but it will look more like skin and you can always use concealer for any leftover blemishes. Also do you use a damp beauty blender?

I think it's mainly to do with your base and skincare? Do you use a primer? Skincare routine?

Is your skin dry? That could be a problem. Try exfoliating and moisturizing!

I've also found that on top of moisturizing and exfoliating, Mac fix + helps "blend" your makeup!
