My face is always pretty red and dry so when I apply makeup the red shows through and it looks cakey and just terrible. I don't want to wear foundation but I need a good anti redness bb/cc cream or primer, and a moisturizer that's doesn't like "roll up" after 5 min if you rub your face if you know what I mean. Any help is appreciated!

Try a green primer, I know NYX makes their Photo Loving Primer (which is my favorite primer) in green. Also try the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, it's lightweight but has amazing coverage and is super long wearing (:

My skin is really fair and I hate green primers personally. For me, It Cosmetics Bye, Bye Redness correcting cream is the best. It blends into the skin and can be a tad dark, but easy to cover with your foundation or bb cream. In your case, skip the foundation and just use a bb. The It Cosmetics CC cream is amazing as well. I love pairing these two products :)
Just a question. Is your dryness caused by eczema or dermatitis? If so, you may need to change your skincare routine a bit to reduce the redness. Josie Maran argan oil has worked wonders for my super red face!

Thanks, that was very helpful:) I do use products from CeraVe because they have helped with my dry skin before. And I've never thought of using aloe Vera,I'll try it out!

I love the loreal anti redness bb cream! it is medium-full coverage for me (that could be the fact that I don't have any acne or blemishes though) and it covers up my redness like no other. it comes out green, but it blends into your skin color. this is also very affordable. it's only $7-8 and it's my holy grail. it lasts a long time on my skin (:

I have dry skin as well and I've been loving the mary kay timewise moisturizer. yes, it is for people with older skin, but you want to prevent your skin from getting wrinkles while your younger rather than waiting until you already have them. I think it's only $22-30, but if that's too expensive, you can also try cetaphil or cerave which I think is only $8-12.

And Michelle,I'm not sure whether it's eczema of dermatitis,I just know that my skin gets really dry and flakey. But I'll try using the Argan oil you mentioned bc I've heard other people say it worked great too:)

Katelyn,I've been looking into the loreal anti redness bb cream on YouTube and people are saying it works great, and it's a lot cheaper than the it cosmetics one so I think I'm going to buy that one! Thank you.

I agree with Megan! I recommend trying a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. You want to treat your dryness/redness instead of just focusing on covering it up. I believe Eucerin makes a redness/dryness cleanser (I believe Ulta has it). I would try that and I also recommend CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (this stuff has savedddd my dry skin) and their Moisturizing Cream is awesome too (they make a lotion too but I would try the cream because it really helps me more with dryness and redness). Aloe Vera is good but I would try using an actual aloe vera plant instead of just the kind you buy in the bottle. As far as products go green primers and correctors can be great for some but you have to make sure you cover them well or the green will show through. Is there specific reason you only want a bb/cc cream instead of a foundation or concealer? I love Clinique's Super Moisture Foundation and its very light like a bb/cc cream but I think it helps cover redness better. I also recommend Makeup Forever HD foundation it has amazing coverage (not cakey either) and is excellent for dry skin. I haven't personally tried the It Cosmetics kind but I have heard people say it works well but if that doesn't work I would try out some samples of the foundations I mentioned just to see if you might like them. Other brands I would also try is Cover Fx and Tarte's Amazonian Powder Foundation (Powder foundations are actually really great for dryness if you moisturize and wear primer I think they cover great and look more natural than liquid and creams). As far as primer's go I know that the green one never really worked right for me and if you end up trying a new skincare routine you might not even need a the green to help cancel redness if your skin regimen works; anyways out of every primer I have used (practically every highend and several drugstore) L'Oreal Magic Lumi looks amazing for someone with both dryness and redness. If you do end up trying a green corrector and if it doesn't work then I would try using yellow (that helps me more than the green does).

Didn't see where you already said you use CeraVe... Anyways I also agree on the Argan Oil. I've been using Josie Maran (travel size bottle @ Sephora $16 and it has lasted me months) has also helped me a lot, I just mix a couple of drops in with my moisturizer!

Yes, I already use the CeraVe hydrating cleanser and I love it so I'll try the moisturizing lotion too. So I'll change up my skincare routine and hopefully that'll also help with my redness bc like you said,I don't want to just cover it up,I want to fix it;) thank you for the help!

Be sure you're drinking adequate water, 4-6 glasses a day really does make a difference in your skin.
You also want to consider your surroundings, if you live somewhere incredibly dry perhaps look into a humidifier, it's great to run over night and I always wake up much more refreshed. There are absolutely little remedies and tricks to help dry skin whether it's dehydrated or naturally dry. Look into glycerin, adding a few drops into your moisturize helps allow your skin to retain more moisture and gives it a little boost. Though there are also specific moisturizers that contain it as well :) I would apply a bit on the side of your face first to ensure no reaction or breakouts. CeraVe products are awesome for dry skin as well as sensitive skin, you can find it at your local drugstore as well which is a total bonus! It contains hyaluronic acid to help enhance moisture retention in your skin. If you take baths or showers often try and take them in Luke warm water as well as when you wash your face. Hot water can be drying to the skin as your natural moisture factors are small water soluble particles that get extracted out of the skin cells when they come to contact with water.

If you can try and stay away from drying skin care ingredients such as
•salicylic acid
•benzoyl peroxide
•tea tree oil
•sulphur based topical a
•topical acne meds
Also be sure you have a gentle cleanser, acne cleansers or bar soap cleansers really tend to strip the skin of its natural oils which could be contributing to your dehydrated skin.

As for products there are lots out there to help in all different price ranges.

Kiels ultra facial cream -contains desert plant extract and glaciel glycoproteins which thrive in dry climates and retain lots of water.

Estée Lauder night repair serum- keep in mind that you should always moisturize even if you use a serum as moisturizers help protect your mositure barrier. This contains hyaluronic acid and locks in your moisture when used after cleansing.

Indeed labs Hydraluron- hyaluronic acid topical gel, which also helps retain the water in your skin. Should be used after you cleanse and then moisturize a few minutes after to allow it to set.

Avene soothing hydrating serum- it is actually mostly thermal water which is wonderful for sensitive skin, with additional glycerin which I spoke about above!

If you're all around red I definitely think a green primer will do you more good than a red concealer, and you won't have to add more layers and layers of makeup to your face. Makeup forever and Victoria's Secret both have coloured primer and out of all the coloured primer I've tried those two are my favorite, they glide on and the consistency reminds me of the revlon photo ready primer which I really enjoy.

I think it all starts with skincare, make sure you are using products suited to your skin type! Also, if the dryness continues using a moisturizer and the too faced hangover primer is great for extra hydration!
