Patience is your absolute best friend. There will be times when you get super frustrated and your hair just doesn't cooperate, but love it anyway!
Just because a product works for one person with your hair type does not mean it works for you. It's easy to become a product junkie as it can take a long time to figure out what's right and wrong for your hair.
Just because a product works for you at one stage in your hair life does not mean it's going to work throughout. Which is absolutely crappy, but it is what it is.
Hair day is no joke. Like, ugh. It's tiring, annoying, and your arms will hurt, but it's worth it. And once you get your routine down , doing your hair on hair day will take a lot less time: I cut down three hours of washing, co washing, deep conditioning, and twisting in to an hour and a half, and it's getting lower.
Explore different styles! I did just twist outs forever, then started doing Bantu knots, using rollers, three stranded twists (different from a plait), and my hair is much happier. And take those styles and try to modify them. Like I'll take a three strand twist and turn it into a Mohawk.
Protective styles are great. I loved them while transitioning as I didn't have to worry about two hair textures. I love them now as its a way for my hair to grow as a low manipulation style.
And love your hair texture, no matter what it turns out to be.

Erin explained it perfectly.
there will be a lot of trial and error with hair products. patience is key and just make sure you're fully committed.
good luck with the process! you should definitely post pics during the transition.
